Hi all. Good day today, picked up Dad and we drove north on I-35 and hit the salvage yards in Waco and then back in Belton. Some neat finds and a good time. As usual, had the camera with me.
The day started off a little rough. I'd been driving the 79 Buick all week and the Roady had been hibernating in the driveway. I went to fire up the Roady and first noticed my keyless entry was dead...and it turns out the car itself was dead. Bad battery, the dome light had been left on....since Monday...yikes!
    79 Buick to the rescue!

Once the Roady came back to life we headed north to Waco. Here we go.
Found this waiting at the front. Pretty picked over, but something really odd here....
Ummm...this Roady wagon has a power sliding sun roof....say WHAT?
This was pretty wild. The car had a Caprice wagon headliner in it that totally covered the Vista window, and the sunroof itself slid into where the Vista window used to sit. No joke, weird!

Next I got all excited over this...
Because I saw this door panel...not broken in front of the arm rest! Maroon! And then I saw a chunk out just below the light....DAMMIT!

This one was sad to see. Despite the front end damage it was SOLID with zero rust and low miles. Interior was CLEAN and I really wanted to pull the door, they had no rust anywhere on them.

Great pics as always! Man our junkyards look like they get picked apart before you can get to them.Look like still have a lot of good parts on those and was that a COMPLETE ENGINE I seen in one?

    I like the goat:biglaugh:

Those intersting head lites on the Olds and the Monte, I like the look and bet they were from a 1990 Caddy.

Yes, to me they are still junk yards. Back in Illinois and here in Florida we have to wade thru mud, muck, weeds, critters, and all kids of stuff. Besides, the cars are packed so tight you have to squeeze between, over, and around them. Most of those cars look better than what the rednecks drive down here! I do like the junkyard dog! Thanks for the trip. PS I don't even know how to post one picture in replies!

    Junkyard heaven! :162:
Wow we have nothing like that around here.
Those green silicone hoses on that LT1 are worth some good money even used.
Those only came on police 9C1 cars.

Darn I was hoping that wagon was maroon guts. And I told you about that '77. I wish that had been put on CL instead of hauled up to PnP...

The '79 and '72 Impalas made me cry a little inside.

Of course they put odd stuff in junkyards here in Waco. Wackos. Here's a 90 Civic LX with EIGHTY NINE THOUSAND MILES spotless inside and out...hit the yard on the 16th I believe...

I think the timing belt broke, but a D15 is cheap, throw another in and drive it. But no, it's yard fodder now.

Thanks for the heads-up about that wagon in Waco. I got that lower front door panel off it. Even though I had to dye it, I'm happy. It's HARD to find those not cracked.

    Thanks again!

Sharp 79 Buick! I'm a bit biased, though!

I like the wheel covers, the fake Buick Rally Wheels on the tan four door Buick. I would love a set for the '73 Century. Do you know if they were 15 inch wheel covers?

They were 15-inch, but all were pretty beat-up. Neat though!
