Ok so I have 1985 Ford LTD Station Wagon and I plan on racing it. From what I have heard everything in the engine bay of a foxbody mustang will fit perfectly into the wagon. This is awesome because I know more about mustangs than any other car and most importantly how to make them go fast. So my question is: How far can you take it? Can you swap hoods, doors, mirrors, wheels etc.???
Is this what you were looking for, i found this on the internet awhile back, i always thought it would be cool to build, mustang/mustang
The LTD is a little different here and there. I don't think the doors will work. But anything up to '86 is almost bolt-on compatible. And guys put later stuff on with some modifications. An 8.8 rear is a pretty standard swap, and high hp drag racers will use a 9". You could also consider an IRS from a t-bird, etc. Dash consoles, seats and interiors. Norm put a rear seat from a capri in his Fairmont and a console shifter. Sky is the limit with the engines. Lots of option for k-members. even ones for mod motors and V6s. You have fab up your own subframe connectors because of the slightly longer wheelbase for the wagon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOO64pzJzoI
The all the mechanical and suspension components swap out fine, but I'm not entirely sure the front sheet metal swaps out without some modification. You would have to get ahold of those guys with the red and yellow ones to be sure.....
That's not actually a Mustang front end on that Fairmont coupe. It's a front clip from a later model Fox LTD, with smoked headlamp covers. This one's been written up in the one or two of the Mustang mags.....
i thought something was a little different , just couldnt figure out what it was. but i knew that back was a futura
