well, i have been gone a long time so it's time to say hello again and give you an update, i no longer have my lovely Roadmaster Estate wagon (which was a roomier upgrade from my all time favorite AMC Eagle wagon.) it was a dream car while i had it and i was very sad to see it go. i will never have such an awesome car again. i traded it along with my '96 jeep cherokee for a '99 Ford Expedition, which is big and roomy like the Buick but with 4X4. i really need 4X4 as live i live up in the hills of PA. as you all know the Expy. is a gas hog and with the price of gas going up everyday, i cannot afford for it to be my daily driver. so i went and bought a cheapo "beater" car for $800 off Craigslist to get me back and forth to work a lot cheaper and then i can save the Expy for winter driving and a tow vehicle for my camper. it was a '93 Olds Cutlass supreme coupe. not exactly what i wanted but i figured it would do the job. don't like 2 doors and the rear windows didn't even go down, but oh well. 3 weeks after i bought it i was driving down the street and i about broke my neck when i saw this little woody wagon on a lot. so i went back and all it had on it was "for sale". looked great! Chyrsler Town & Country it was. wow, so i called the next day and said whats the deal on that wagon? he said it a 1987 in excellent condition and he wants $5000 cause it only has 45k on it. oh, i can't go $5000, wish i could and forgot about it for a few weeks. till i went that way again and it WAS STILL THERE. hmmm i must take it for a spin! it was a sweet little spin and it was like brand new inside too. he showed me the engine with new battery and the new tires etc. i said its perfect for me but i can only go $4000. next day he called me and told me the owner would let it go for that. wooo hooo!!! not only did i get a sweet little wagon but its a 4cyl too so it will be great on gas! 1st thing i did on my way home was run it through the car wash. the guys there were drooling over it big time and about s**t their drawers when i told them it only had 45k on it. it looked great when i left there for one whole day, and of course its been raining ever since so i haven't even had an opportunity to spiff it all up yet. so i had to take pics in the rain.........
Congrats on your new acquisition. Looks like a real honey, especially for that price. Does that 4 pull it around ok? They were a 2.2L I think I remember?
You know I have to admit until joining this forum I really forgot all the cool wagons that were built in the '70's-mid 90's.It is great to see all the diffrent neat wagons such as yours.Looks like you will get plenty enjoyment out of her!
I like it!! Those are pretty cool,my folks looked at one when they were new. But they ended up buying an Escort wagon instead:banghead3:
i am not sure about the motor since i haven't had a chance to really get to know it yet. i need to read the owners manual too. not only is the book there, but the keys are on the original Chrysler key ring with a matching emblem to the one on the hood. it gets around real good, a little slower going up the hills, but the cruise works great. today i went out and bought a steering wheel cover and front bench seat cover. my dogs feet must never touch the pristene upholsterey in there. i am doing everything i can to make sure no hair gets on the seats. the back seat is covered with a queen doubled sheet and the cargo area has a nice big fluffy quilt down for them. they love their new ride!
weather was much better today so i took more pics........ more in next post, noitice the crew waiting at the gate hoping to go for a spin. they LOVE their new ride, but not as much as i do!!!!
and here is that nice little orig key fob....... i would like to find some orig spoke wheels for this car as i hate the fake plastic ones on it now.
hi guys, a lot has happened since i bought this sweet little wagon so now its for sale my husband was fired for drinking on the job and that did it for me. we are getting a divorce. i had to sell the house and the Expedition as i could not afford this stuff on my own. i now live in a little house thats 2 blocks from my work so having a gas saver is not really an issue now. i have a '95 Ford conversion van that i bought to replace the EXP so i still have transportation. i no longer have the nice garage i had and my little woody is now sitting out in the rain it deserves better. this house needs a roof and with the record breaking rain we have had i have to have a couple buckets to catch the drips from the 2 leaks i have. so i really need the $$ so its for sale and i have a guy from NJ that wants it. he had an '88 just like it and someone totaled it. he is heartbroken, so i feel sure it will be going to a good home. i have it listed on EBay classifieds under classic cars for $3900 OBO. i paid $4000 and i just put in a new radiator. other than that its been as perfect as the day i brought it home. so it looks like i won't have a wagon for a while. if i ever get another, it would have to be a Roadmaster
