I've had station wagons since 1966 when our family hunting car was purchased from a family friend-a 1955 4 door 210 Chevy with a 6 cyl and overdrive. Since then I have had 8 wagons that have come and gone. I currently have a 1952 Crosley wagon (future project) and I'm heading out to pick up a 1962 Chevy Belair to make into a grandkid hauler and local cruiser. I've always liked wagons, and my college cruiser was a 1955 Nomad that I put over 60,000 miles on. I hang out frequently on the hot rod boards and enjoy the good people that I interact with. So far the internet has been a really useful place to share info in the car hobby. I hope to do some sharing here, also. overspray
WELLLL PILGRUM. Don't let that Crosley set too long tho'. If It getz any closer to the ground you'll havtah put it in the sand box fer yer grand kidz. Any body else think the Crosley waz inspired by the Bantam? Love both those little guyz Don't see 'um often enough! G/L with the '62 Chebby to Overspray? HUMMMM, tell me you've learned how to sand out Mosquito Wingz when thay been Back Strokin' on the hood
Funny you should mention mosquitos doing the backstroke on the hood. When I did my "Watson Style" flames on the 55 Nomad back in 1974, I did end up leaving one of the "six-legged" Messerschmidts embedded forever in the hood. Kind of like those Egyptian Scarab Beetles encased in petrified amber, but not nearly as valuable. You must have read my Garage Painting 101 Tech. The 62 will get the quick low buck on the road treatment that I've done on a couple other "driver quality" FUN cars. I don't want a restoration just a fun cruiser. The recipie includes: new brakes, shocks, u-joints, seat covers, and carpet ala JC Whitney, plus some used wheels, tires, gauges, engine and trans, and other fineries garnered from my private stash and maybe a few ebay scores. Followed later by a streetable paint job of single stage white (original color). I even have my eye on a 10 foot Shasta pull behind camper circa 1960, that would make a cool add on to the cruising rig. overspray
Well it's in a field near the Canadian Border and I going to get it in 2 weeks---if the snow has melted enough for an "extrication".
