Well, I finally was able to pick up a car. I grabbed a very clean 1994 Roadmaster Estate Wagon for $800. I got it for short money because the PASS key is screwed up and the kid that had it didn't want to keep playing with it. Does anyone have any experience with this system and is anyone able to answer a couple of questions. 1. Does anyone have the diagrams for where the boxes and wires are? We're wondering if the thing that actually does the decoding is goofed up, but we don't know where it's located. ("We" being the fellow at Best-Buy.) 2. Does anyone have any ideas on how to by-pass the system? It either going to be a) a total disconnect of the system, once we find the wires to cut, b) solder a correct-ohm resistor in or c) replace the module. 3. Is there something else we should be taking into consideration? Thanks for any help. Charlie Larkin
This may help....... http://www.impalassforum.com/vBulletin/showthread.php?t=227294&highlight=passkey
Wow....exhaustive. That certainly does answer a lot of the questions. I'll print that out and bring it with me so the guy who actually understands this stuff can read through it and see if he can figure it out. Thank you! Charlie Larkin
Don't forget the link under the Pass-Key Resistance Chart. It shows how to by-pass the Pass-Key if you want to go that route.
The thread Silverfox pointed out is the best thread on the pass key stuff, but before diving in with both feet, check the ground for the system. The ground is located on the left (passenger side) cylinder head right directly under the coil, and ignition module mount, there should be 4 separate ground wires mounted there, so look carefully. If you have a bad ground, this first step will save you a lot of time. Good luck, Mike
