Must have been a common sight 35-40 years ago when over a million clamshells were produced. But nowadays a rare sight:

Right on, wagnut. Think about this a minute. That truck has 5 clamshells on it that will disappear from the face of the earth forever. My bet is these cars will, ultimately, be crushed and sent to China. There have been MANY pix like this just on THIS forum. We really need to save as many wagons as we can. The days of the cool Detroit iron wagons is long gone and it's not coming back. Not ever. I remember just a few years back when I had my 88 Electra, 455 powered wagon....these Buick box wagons were plentiful and cheap. Try to find a decent one today. I'm telling you...the attitude of most younger people today is not at all concerned about saving "gas hogs". And that attitude will get worse and more wide spread as the G and its compliant media keep feeding the public bullsh!t and telling us what to drive. The younger guys and gals on this forum have to keep up the interest in saving these jewels. As I am traveling through my twilight years it saddens me to know what's in store for station wagons and our love for them. And when I do kick the proverbial bucket...there will be one person less to nurture these wonderful works of art. The above pic is a sad statement of history in the making.

My kids are growing up in the mini-van era and really didn't know what a station wagon was until I started telling them about them when we go to cruise nights. They still don't grasp the idea that these cars are being made in less numbers by less manufacturers every year and hope 1 of the 2 understand the preservation of not only these wagons but of other cars also.Every year they go with me to crusin' the coast it is a week long event Oct.2-8 this year with 5,000+ cars attending and that is where I see some cars, trucks and wagons that I normally wouldn't get a chance to see. Some rare some just plain unusual.
