just thought id post some pictures of the work ive done to my wagon lately, i removed the wood grain and trim, did some light bondo and repaired the front cap with fiberglass. sanded, primed and painted the car for a couple hundred dollars in duplicolor acrylic black paint.

Looks good, goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune to make something look good. Did you paint it yourself?

thanks now ive just got to get the bumper filler replaced. ive found it on ebay but im going to have to shell out 500$ for it, i thought about making some inserts with fiberglass since my front cap repair went well. not sure how i would do a peice that big though, maybe get some of that flashing used on homes for the big parts and where it attaches to the body then just fiberglass the whole thing together.

Yep that bumper filler price is outragous, easiest option is to suck the bumpers in.

    2 ways

[front only] You carefuly drill a hole into the bumper shocks to let the gas out and then shove it in and weld. [showed that on the muscle car blue collar Buick build, can see the vid on the website]

Or you remove the inner bumper bracket, the bumper bolts to a bracket that then bolts to the car. And its kinda like two C shaps coming together point to point pushing it out and having the bumper have no face bolts. Dump the inner and bolts the bumper to the car through its face.
Keeping the shocks up front, no shocks in the rear.

And often those inner brackets are trash and need removed anyways.
They are aluminum, bolted to steel and they corrode bad and the bumper just falls off one day.

    Used OEM bumper fillers

$500 for a pair of bumper fillers? Are you serious? I just sold a decent used set for $50.00 shipped to a member. I may still have the ones off my dad's 90 wagon that need repainting, but are not cracked I would sell to you for the same price. I will confirm he hasn't thrown them out and get back to you if you are interested. Let me know your zip code so I could confirm if I can still do it for $50 shipped.
