Classic Parable of the Prodigal Son http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_Prodigal_Son And on top of that, the reward for those who do right, is the ability to do right. Because if it was easy, everyone would do it.
They pulled the videos a few days after the story broke nationally. I haven't followed the story that closely, but I don't think he's chosen a job yet. Plus the Dispatch isn't the one that would be hiring him. Whatever.
Well....it is a great story but...I predict that with all this sudden fame...the guy will fall off the wagon hard. Don't mean to denigrate him but I don't think he is through with booze and/or drugs and with the added pressure of a hard work schedule etc I believe he is destined to fall again. Hope I'm wrong.
Yah unfortunately I was a thinking the same thing, like how long will this last? I hope he can make the most out of this "golden" opportunity.
You're already scoring pretty well on that prediction, Mike. I haven't followed the story al that much, but the latest I've heard is that he's in rehab right now, he's got some angry family members, and the media still wants to gobble him up (then spit him out..). His story will be a bit different that most, because, if he pulls off his recovery, he'll be IN the media. I certainly wish him well, because he was BORN to be an announcer, with that voice. (but I'm wondering how much of his hardl life actually contributed to developing that voice...)
Well....there are a lot of signs that he has had professional training somewhere along the line. He has more going than just a deep voice. Are you kidding!? He's in rehab? You sure, KK? I mean....wouldn't that be big news? I haven't heard anything about that. Did he already fall off the wagon? When I observed him on a couple of the interview videos it was my feeling that he was on something at that time OR needed to be. I don't think his claim of being clean for 2 years is completely true. Just my observation and I could be wrong. But, I do have some experience in spotting druggies after being in the film industry in Hollywierd and then running 2 nude clubs...one in Hollywierd and one in Englewood. After awhile it became pretty easy to spot the many mannerisms of people that were on drugs or booze. I don't wish this guy anything bad and I hope he makes it with a clean and successful life. Unfortunately, I would have to give really good odds against that happening. At least not a smooth transition.
Sure that doesn't have anything to do with the report on the news 2 days ago that his daughter said he was drinking again? And today when he checked into rehab after DR Phil got involved, as he was only off the wagon cause he couldn't afford booze, he never went through real treatment, and to expect him to just go cold turkey is hard, as I bet folks were offering him drinks left and right.
"We have already reported that Williams has received a ton of job offers and now it looks like he wants to get clean before he accepts them. Ted Williams will be going to rehab and then I can expect we will see him doing some sort of professional sports commentating in the near future." Side note http://www.aolnews.com/2011/01/14/homeless-advocates-not-laughing-at-vicki-lawrences-ted-williams/ "The actress recently released a video in which, while dressed as the famous "Mama" character that she originated in the late 1960s on "The Carol Burnett Show," she claims that the only way to become famous these days is to be homeless. The video clearly targets the recent rise of homeless voice-over artist Williams. "So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to take this stupid a-- sign and go out on the street, and I'm gonna wait for some bozo to drive by. "And when he gives me a dollar, I'm going to say, 'God bless you. God bless you,' in the sweetest, deepest voice that I pull out of my a-- and you know what? Next thing, I'm gonna be famous. I'm gonna be all over the TV, and I'm gonna have all kinds of people asking me to represent their product, like, I don't know, Super Poligrip. And Depends! I would be a perfect spokesperson for Depends!'" Lawrence, 61, made the video after seeing all the glowing media coverage about Williams and work being handed to him while she, an actress with more than 40 years experience, is settling for guest parts on "Hannah Montana." ------- Reddin thinks the video is "really tacky" and, worse, inaccurate. Such as when Lawrence's Mama character gripes about Williams' recent voiceover spot for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese by questioning the likelihood of homeless people actually boiling water in the bushes. "She should note that mac 'n cheese is actually pretty popular on the streets," he said. "It's cheap, quick and easily made, not to mention it provides plenty of carbs to keep the body going in the elements. "So, not only is she old and washed up but she's also out of touch with reality. Wait, that's because of that old part, right? Or was she always? I don't know. And I'm far too young to give a damn." As Reddin sees it, Lawrence is using this video -- which he calls "dehumanizing" and "derogatory" and "just plain stupid" -- as a way to get another 15 minutes of fame. "She's complaining about anybody becoming famous these days, but she's just riding on Ted Williams' coattails." "
Saaaa Whaaa??? Fox, you of all people know the unwritten rules around here No Pics = No Proof, did'nt happen
Dr PHIL?!??? How's he play in this??? He isn't even a Dr! Damn....this is REALLY turning into another dumbass media circus with a dysfunctional family......
Didn't read it all but his daughter went to Phil to get him help or something, sort of a fine line between her also wanting to get her 15mins and really worried about him and id also say the show people called her before Opra did [everyone wants a piece of his 15 mins] Why they had a run in with the cops, he was not happy with her at first for doing that. Going to TV like that to make it known. though he did end up in treatment, kinda had to at that point or he never would of gotten a job as it would of been bad press.
saw some E news on it, they showed him on TV with scratches, the fight with his daughter was over her "selling" his story. They said Dr Phil paid for a private jet and is paying for the rehab. Also said just before leaving, some other rehab place offered to give him $10-20,000 to go there instead. But he didn't take it.
