Well, this Holiday season could be better. Because of an error in paperwork, my wife's unemployment has stopped and not likely to be reinstated. Neither one of us can find a job. So, it looks like I may have to sell off some things. We have a 2000 Chevy Blazer Sport 2WD that we're still paying on. That's gonna have to go. I'm trying to justify keeping the Fairmont wagon, considering its paid for and I can drive it if I have to. I also have an '89 F150 Ext cab pickup with 74000 miles on it and its never seen salt!! This truck looks almost like new and currently stored with the wagon. It's paid for as well. I just wish it got better mileage. I don't own a house (yet), don't have valuables, and I'm at my wits end. I can't even afford to move to another state where there are jobs.:taz:
So far, I just posted the Blazer on Craigslist, and am getting the wagon ready to drive (in the salt:(). The F150 is ready to drive. anyone have some ideas I can try? I've applied for every job that I even remotely qualify for.

Come up with an idea to sell on eBay? Start your own service business that you have abilities to do? I know a guy that is good at building houses but the bottom dropped out of the market. He started a home repair service and is doing gang busters. He fixes little things in people's houses like a plumbing leak, loose railing, new window installation, broken tiles, etc. Can you fix old cars? Can you give ride service to older people that have to get to the doctor? Pick up and deliver groceries to shut ins? The state will help pay for the latter two.

    Yeah - what Mike said.
    What are you good at?

I was unable to find a damage appraiser position with an insurance company or body shop when we moved to Oregon, so I opened my own appraisal business. Not doing tremendously, but we can eat.....and maybe buy a house with our other income...

I'll drive anything with wheels!! I have worked on a few cars for people. I could pull the wagon out and set up a shop.

I know it's different here but...I was appling for unemployment once and was getting the run around for a couple of months . Whenever I called all I could get out of them was it was being investigated. I was beyond angry. Anyway, I ended up calling my MLA one morning and told him of my troubles, by lunch time unemployment called me and told me everything was taking care and a cheque was in the mail...and it really was :yup:. I don't know what your MLA equivalent would be, but if the paperwork issues are their error maybe a phone call might help you out also  Good Luck!

see a need fill a need. keep your eyes open as well as your mind. something will come up.

if you are handy you can make money. if you live on wooded land make and sell book ends, lamps and coat racks. if you are artisic you mite try chain saw carvings, or if you can weld try metla sculpting.

try to think out side the box.(y)

With your Police background, you could offer a Security service? List your services with the local alarm services? Mall, investigative, etc. Rent-A-Cop? :D

Been working that angle since I moved here. So far, the closest I got is a "Maybe we'll call you after the first of the year" from a security company.
I am substitute teaching at the local middle school, but it's only when they call me in.

depends on what you,re driving/hauling,.newbies get raped till they have experience,.
i,m off to slave lake dec 26th to haul tree length out of the bush,. pays pretty good,. but living in a motel sucks, and i doubt a newbie could do it,.better than flipping soy burgers somewhere,.
