The seat in 77 Impala wagon has a small opening about 2-3" on one of the botom seat seams. Anyone know a easy but invisable way to fix it. I was thinking maybe a silcone type sealent but not sure how flexiable it stays

I don't know how the upholstery guys would fix it but if I had to fix it I'd take off the upholstery, resew the seam and then reinstall the upholstery on to the seat.

I'd be willing to bet the experts can do it simpler and reinforce the rest of the stitching.

If the thread is broken, you can use a curved sail needle with a #90 thread (seat belt quality) and stitch it together, otherwise, use some similar grade fabric/vinyl and the Tearmender products. It works very well.

Thanks guys for now I think I will try Norms methord as its only the thread that is damaged and I do need to have the car up and running for the next few months. I guess its easy to remove the seat covering but I have never done it. I have removed fenders, hoods, doors engines and other fun stuff but never tried a seat covering. With the seat having 30 plus years old thread I would think other seams may open when removing so if it needs to be done its a job I would most likly send out to a pro.
