David an X4... WHEN YAH GET DUG OUT THAT IZ. The angles iz havin' ah pillow fight on this side ah the state too
My wagon is just a driver, nothing special. Its 260 V8 2 barrel carb with a 3 speed manual on the tree. I bought it about a month and a half ago on craigslist. I paid $350 for it knowing nothing about it. It was last ran in 98 then shoved in a barn. The owner went to a nursing home and started running out of funding so his family was selling off all of his stuff. When I popped the hood, the first thing I tried to do was get the motor to turn over by hand. It was stuck. After I made my $350 offer and the lady took it, I was determined to get that motor to move. I give it all I had, the whole 120lbs of me. It came free. My dad helped me trailer it back to his house, got it started on the trailer and drove it off. After about $100 into it, I figured it was road ready and I started driving it. Its been a fun driver, put over 2000 miles on it already. With the information I was givin, I realized that I was the 3rd owner. and that the two older owners didn't drive it much. The mileage is correct at a now 67,500.
That is a great looking wagon, and it sure would be a loss to give it up to the Michigan rust worms. Have you thought of finding a winter beater to drive during the "salt" months and keeping this one for the good weather? That way, you will have the enjoyment of it for many years to come, rather than having to scrap it in a few years when the rust takes its toll. That is one fine looking machine.. What ever you decide, enjoy your ride into the future.... Junkman
Welcome. Cool little Merc wagon. I was wondering what the plastic bottle near the kick plate is there on the driver's side but didn't wanna get personal...
David, You mention that it is not special, but to those of us on the forum they are all special. Each one has its own personality, history, and potential. Some folks are shy about their cars, some because they are maybe works in progress, or long term projects, or even too shiny, but what the heck, if it is what they have, and they are part of the forum, then let us have a look. Viewing the pics of yours, for the year, it is in decent shape. It has zip for miles in the scheme of things, and the fact that you were able to drive it off the trailer is bonus. Nothing a bit of priming the carb and working the gas peddle doesn't cure it seems in many cases. Glad you found the forums.
Gawd damned thats a awesome wagon, I would LOVE to have it! I guess I'm letting my true wagon fever be known, as I mentioned I had a 62 4 door hard top, great memories and allways wished I could find that body in a wagon. Awesome ride you have
