But....you may be forgetting all the stuff out there for the 302. I like your idea, Norm....but I'll have to take the 302 in a Fox wagon. You can go wherever you want with the performance stuff out there. The 302 in my Mark VII was a fast engine and I'm not light footed at ALL. I got a consistent 22 plus MPG. I'll take that with lot of snort to go with it.
That is the console I would like to have to, but then I would use the space were your ashtray/lighter and clock is to position the position the vents. Heck I could even run a tube through the tunnel and have a seperate vent (control) in the back!
Double hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, what about a twin turbo'ed 302? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMu7tG4AJvU&feature=fvw
I pulled the AC out of my fox. Actually need it a total of about a week out of the year up here. And I have another car with AC so whatever... Plus if you don't have it there is more room for a turbocharger. heheh
Any mustang, capri dash from 1979 to 1986 will fit right in, and they usually came with AC. Plus you get all the gauges. With a Turbo mustang/capri, you get the Turbo boost/vacuum gauge, instead of the ammeter.
I would agree with that, but it depends on how hard it is. I had a discussion with Norman some time ago about this and he told me that it is a lot of work. Of course, finding an a/c car would be easiest, but as this is only the second Fairmont/Zephyr wagon ever I have seen for sale here, that doesn't seem so feaseable. A/C is needed to keep both the misses and my son happy on the trips to and in Italy and would greatly increase the acceptance of driving a classic daily. This also means it has to be done fairly quick; before the summer. Finding a good a/c dash with all the stuff, installing the rest of a/c before then would be difficult. That's why I thought about the underdash system. Let's first get this Zephyr home and then I can decide.
But...he wants/needs AC, Andy. Perhaps selecting a different car would be easier. Modifying cars is always more difficult than it may seem before starting on it.
