    Hello,
My name is Tom and I live in Palm Springs CA. I am a member of several other forums since I have several different cars from the 70's. I am a huge fan of the clamshell wagons and am currently looking for a 75 or 76 Olds Custom Cruiser. I have a 75 Olds 98 and and a 75 Olds Delta 88 Convertible. I would really love to find a Custom Cruiser. If anyone finds one or knows of one for sale please let me know

    Thanks,
    Tom

:Welcome: Your not way too far from me. The desert certainly prevents rust but it's hell on plastics.

Hi Tom and welcome! Bet there are alot of rust free old cars out there in the deserts of southern CA?

There is something about desert southern CA that always reminds me of old cars and movies. Alot of old movies were filmed out there in the 60s and 70s, with alot of old cars. One that comes to mind to me is the 1971 movie "Duel", which had the red 71' Plymouth Valiant and a scene with a green 71' Kingswood Estate clamshell wagon. I would like to have that one, but its probably long gone. I am thinking Duel was filmed in the Palmdale/Acton area... north of LA.

Then there was the 1973 movie "Dying Room Only" filmed somewhere out there with the 73' Caprice Estate wagon and Bel-Air police car. I think it was filmed in the area as well.

Hope you find what you are looking for! Took me 9 years to buy my 72' Kingswood Estate!

My gosh- yes, I know it. Before I bought my current 72' Kingswood Estate, I was about to purchase another 72' Kingswood Estate out of Tucson, AZ. The woodgrain had already faded white and the interior was trash- but there was ZERO rust (but it did have a little around the rear cargo windows). On the flip side, my current wagon has a like new interior (but was garage kept) and shiny woodgrain, but rainy conditions here have caused some rust in the spare tire well, lower 1/4 panel and around the cargo area windows- all repairable, which I will fix soon.
