About 3 hours after I posted that last nite I took a phone call. My grandmother passed away in her sleep at 2:30. We're doing all the funeral arrangements right now so it'll be a day or two before I get anything done on this, but I'll post pics as soon as things get back to normal.

EDIT: I checked while I was there and the thing is still intact. Pics tomorrow.

Wow Wixom! I couldn't agree more with Fox. That thing is a one of a kind stunner already. What dedication and talent. Amazing. :tiphat:

    Wow! What a group.
Did you all notice that FMC has only 2 posts - he joined specifically because of Wix's wagon.

Moonroofs are a really cool option to have. I love them.

Condolences to you and your family BTW, FMC.....grandmas are to be treasured - then remembered dearly.

Her grandson does her proud! My condolences too. They seem to touch us with mellow wisdom when we're young, and it never leaves us.:)

I agree, it should have a moonroof and no roof racks.

How hard can it be to put a roof in after all the other work!

Great project can't wait to see the finished job.

Well, the only reason it may not have a luggage rack is that I don't have one. But, I will get one.
I think these wagons look great with the factory rack.

As for the sunroof, now is the perfect time to add one if I'm ever going to, so FMC's generous offer is perfect. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Yeah! With the moonroof you can watch granny on the rack! :rofl2:

I'm with you though. Both would just be icing on the cake.;)

It still could be an 'iffy' installation. Mating up moonroof from car A to wagon B, when A and B arn't the same type. The roof contours need to be fairly close on both.

Google up a 78 Eldo(or Toro, really from 72 up. Look at the windshield molding at the top and the curve of the roof. Compare that between any big body GM in the same period. 98's, Rivs, Deville, Bonne, etc. GM shared that body A pillar/B pillar all across the brands for years.

There ARE cosmetics. A riv has a small spine down the center. Wix' wagon has a forward v that appears to extend up over where the top will retract inside. Obviously he'll want to keep that, which is good sine the only exernal steel I left when I cut it ou is maybe a six inch piece all the way around the opening. I think I remember the top being rotted behind that. Should work well, though in this app.

Didn't get there today. Funeral and viewing is from 9AM till 1PM. I'm baby sitter, running herd on the "that" side of the family and then pall bearer. I refuse to speak at these things. So I should be at the folk's house by 2'ish. My boy and I will load it up and bring it home and I'll get your pics and measurements and approximate weight.

Wife handles UPS shipping through the store she manages so I can see what can be done there. If it has to go freight someone else will have to tell me what to do because ALL my Feebay shipping has been UPS Ground. It'll definitely have to be crated to protect the slider but I can take care of that well enough.

Pic shows a XS Toro with a moonroof I sold back in 04 on Feebay. You can get a good look at that front edge and a hint of the slider location. Looks pretty much dead on and an Eldo is identical, as is a 72 Buick Electra 2 door.

Oh yeah, Rev, you might just got yourself a shotgun sunroof! Yeehaw! :character0182:

Krash, I do know it will be a challenge to fit this sunroof to the wagon, but I know I can do it.

The wagon roof is domed higher than the regular sedan and coupe roof, but the overall basic dimensions are the same,
and the flatness of the sunroof panel, and the flatness of the wagon roof will match up.
I'm not going to replace the entire roof panel, just the panel opening about an inch or two out.

The double roof construction is going to be a challenge, but all of the full-size GM vehicles had it, so maybe it will be an easy match.

I've been thinking about this for some time, but never really thought I would come across a correct style sunroof, so this is just so cool that FMC would come along and make this happen.

    Yea FMC!

    David :)
