Am I the first person to use a video game as "...and other Media"?

I know I'm keeping relatively mature and conservative company here, and I hope not to accidentally start a "Video Game: Artform or MURDER SIMULATOR?" type thread...

But anyway, since I can barely afford to maintain a collection of 1 in real life, I've been having some fun expanding my collection into the digital realm. (not at the expense of my Gillian, of course. She just got an oil change and a new starter and is feeling just fine!) None of these came with the game, they were all created by folks much more talented than I, and then my game is modified to use them.

As you can imagine, there aren't a ton of user-made station wagon mods to choose from... these are the the three I thought were the most well-done, as well as not being anachronistic to the game (set in 1992). I ended up with specimens from each of the American big three, and from three different eras, which delights me to no end.

Sadly no GM B-body wagons (that didn't look like crap).

    Nice!!!
I wouldn't mind having those models. I prefer GTA VC to GTA SA, but I kick around with both from time to time.

I do some 3D modeling for the rFactor racing simulation.

Haven't started building a wagon yet, but here are a few of my work in progress projects.

Very nice! But how have you resisted the urge to evolve your Le Mans into a Safari? I should give modeling another try. I downloaded a program for making vehicles in GTA and just stared at the screen for a few minutes before getting totally intimidated and throwing it away. But I desire so many corny uncool cars for the game that nobody will ever make but me.

Easy... time and my sanity. The front sheet metal contours of the Le Mans were a real pain to model. I may attempt to stretch the wheel base and re-sculpt the rear end into a wagon but it would probably be better to start from scratch.

If I can find the tutorial on Box Modeling that got me started, I will post it up for you. Once I understood the basics of working in 3dStudio Max, work flowed pretty well, but that program is a pretty deep rabbit hole.

Here are a few of my models as Work In Progress: (gotta get around to finishing these)

Those are cool. And, by the way, cermo...you DO have a GM, B Body....looks like a 90's Caprice sitting there. Maybe you were referring to a Box wagon model?

Is that a Skylark? That's looking awesome! If you handle the physics and performance, do you go for maximum realism or maximum fun, or does the game dictate that? (I'm not familiar with rFactor) Whoever made my Town&Country was definitely not going for realism. It's almost comically powerful. It's actually not much fun to drive because it corners like a Peterbilt.

Have you used zmodeler? I just downloaded it and will mess with it this evening. It's free, so it's the tool for me!

Aye Silverfox, I meant to say 80s B-body. D'oh. Maybe I'll get my feet wet by turning that '92 Caprice into a '92 Custom Cruiser. I know it's mostly just the skin, but it's as good a place to start as any.
