Welcome aboard. I guess this means theres at least four of us here with 67 Belvedere wagons. I'm lovin this, but I think all four of us are searching for better tail gates.

I just bought my Belvedere wagon in June and haven't seen the car yet. A buddy of mine picked it up for me and is storing it in Massachusettes and will bring it to me in Virginia when he comes here to visit in the Spring. The tail gate is the worst part on the car. It looks clean on the outside, but lower the tailgate and lift the filler panel that hides the joint between the tail gate and the cargo floor, and you can see the bottom of the inside is swiss cheese. How bad is your tail gate?
A 66-67 Coronet tailgate will fit, however, the Coronet's tail lights extend onto the tailgate, so you would have large holes to fill which could be easier than fixing the rust. In my case, I have the Belvedere II model so mine will have a tailgate finish panel that would hide the openings for the Coronet tail lights, but the openings would still have to be filled to create an area to attach the finish panel and to prevent water from getting in.

Mine has a dent in it and someone went to work on the latch area and smoked it. Mine is a II also and I have a nice panel that I could cover it with.

Since a decent tailgate will be difficult to find and because the rust issues on mine are on the inside framework of the tail gate, I plan on consulting the guy that'll be doing body work on my 68 Charger and seeing if he thinks he can fix my tail gate (once I get my wagon home). It might be cheaper then buying a (probably not perfect) tailgate and paying for shipping.
Since the issue on your tail gate is different than on mine, we might be able to get by with just one replacement tail gate between us. If one of us does find a good replacement tail gate, it might be that the old tail gate might be usable for cutting up to replace sections of sheet metal on the other's tail gate.

If I can find one you are welcome to what ever you need on the inside, the one I am looking for dont have to be perfect as it would ruin the whole patina effect of the car.
