Have you ever visioned what you wanted your wagon to look like? I pictured my wagon to be hot rod flatz sublime green with a gloss white roof, chrome smoothies with bullet caps and pinners... and to top it all of a basic air ride kit with some white tuck n roll interior. Oh, I could picture it. So like anyone else, I did some image searches, and found this... :slap:

Oh well, after some research it seems that the car may not be around anymore, and this is now my motivation. Even if it is still around, I'm sure its not in Louisville KY AND it's not a 63! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I absolutely love this car... it is my desktop, and I drool over it everyday. If the owner happens to be on here, Love the wagon man. :thumbs2:

Let's get a thread going... What about you project guys?

That is a nice color combination. I just keep mine going. I can't make up my mind at all about what to do with the exterior.

Colours that I wouldn't use are Reds (they fade too fast) and some browns (tan is OK). I wouldn't use black or grey either.

I wouldn't mind a 3-tone finish, like some of the models from the 50's - 3 shades of green or bronze/gold, with satin silver treated metal trim on the outside, like TBird's Cougar or a Fox Marquis Villager. I'd really like a chrome crown over a vinyl rear section of the Fairmont's wagon roof line, like some of the Z7's had.

Speaking of Z7s. There's a Ford salesman in town that has completely restored a 79 Fairmont Futura to absolutely factory fresh. Inline six and C4 auto to boot. New vinyl top etc. What a beautiful car. It indeed looks showroom fresh. I never asked if it had an 8-track.

I want mine to be brown, factory color, gold tinted windows, rear bumper replaced with a roll pan, moldings removed and front bumper color keyed with car. Stock interior. working on it now, will try to some pix of the progress. Its still stripped down good and is progressing slowly, but progressing.

Brer wabbit is laying low!:biglaugh:

He's over 6 feet, and my tarp garage sags down to 4 feet in places, especially when its windy. He may just have gone and picked her up. One cheap bus ride and drive her back! I would if I had the room or time.

I've got a prediction. (I was thinking about this the other day...)
Two-tone cars are going to make a comeback. You're going to see some cars styled to benefit from a 2-tone paint job. There will be some 50's and 60's styling influences, like chrome moldings with anodized inserts, etc. coming back. I'm not talking about complete 'retro' cars, just some styling touches. There will also be some brighter colors offered. I think people are geting tired of the beiges, medium grays, etc.. Within 5 years.......

The beginning of an example of this is the Ford Flex. White or Silver roof with a dark colored body... By the way, I predict that these will be the Country Squire of the new mellenium 30 years from now...

You'd need the woody/chrome surround trim from a Futura or a Villager or a Cougar... Then you could do some pretty nice FX stuff.
