Hi Everyone back from windshield picking adventure. Survived without too many rabid dogs/junk yard owner bites. Picked my windshield out of a 62 2 door Fairlane Sedan. Also found a correct complete roof rack for $25. This place was awesome hundreds of classic cars all overgrown in an old National Park welcome centre/RV park which probably closed in the early 70's. I saw a least 50 if not 100 wagons in all states of decay. Plus all sort of very cool cars including a Hudson Hornet that looked like you could put a battery in it and drive it away. I have posted a few of the shots I took. Can anyone tell be the model of the 70's wood side Mercury ---- Park? The 64? Ranch Wagon had lost its top:cry: Great day out:dancing:

Wow, I'd love to visit that junkyard! Great cars in it!

Sad how that unloved, junkyard dog started out every bit as beautiful as BlueVista's gorgeous VC.

Above is a '64 Mercury and below is a '65 Colony Park.

Couldn't you have got a brand new windshield and had it installed on your Fairlane, all for about $250.00? Hope the used windshield was cheap. Other than windshields, the rest of the glass would be hard to find, but I would expect the front windshield to be available from most auto glass shops nationwide. But many aren't familiar with the proper way to install the old windshields with the rubber gaskets and might risk using the wrong kind of sealer during the installation.

Actually the junk yard Colony Park woody is a 66.

The non-wood big Mercury wagons would have been called 'Commuter' back in the 60's....

    Cheap Winshield

Jim I picked up the windshield for $75 in good condition. The cheapest I could find new was $277 and then $100 shipping from Calfornia. It might interest you that there was a pristine piece of 66 Cuda back glass sitting there the guy only wanted $80!!

It's amazing that these cars all seem to have their glass intact. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima Usually, some jerk breaks it all out, just to be destructive.

Thats true, it would cost a fortune to ship it. Thanks for looking out for me. Both of my fastbacks are 68's which share no sheet metal or glass with the 66 Barracuda. But now if you told me there was a 66 or 67 Belvedere wagon there with a pristine tailgate....

More Photos of My Texas Adventure

Really was an amazing place. Especially for me being Australian as I have never seen a majority of these cars before. Jim I didn't see any Belvedere Wagons but there could well have been(I really wouldn't know one if it bit me!) Most cars there still had usable parts. The Failane 2 door I pulled my glass from really was salvageable. The only cars there the were really stripped and not all of them were early mustangs(go figure) Anyway here's a couple my shots including two non wagons(the beautiful Hornet/Barracuda) and the 65? Fairlane Wagon that I picked my Roof Rack from.

I see in your photos, a 65 Barracuda, a 65 Falcon wagon, a 55 or 56 Hudson, and the Fairlane you pulled the roof rack from is a 64.

    Good Spotting Jim!

I'm still learning what's what. The only thing I couldn't find was the electric motor for my 63 Squire tailgate. Obviously they broke a lot or are worth something as I probably looked in the guts of 20 Ford tailgates(electric ones) all gone:(. One will turn up one day will just use my manual 65 crank/regulator for now. Below is the yahoo listing for this yard. Although it is not where the star it is about a mile north up country road 2391. If you go to Google Earth and look at the road and follow it north you will see all the cars!
