Got a new project car.

I always thought the V8 Falcons went up to 14" wheels since they have 5 lugs......

 

I don't know for sure, but this one had 13's on it. As far as I know they are the original wheels.
Guy at the tire shop has been doing this for years, says he used to take 13's off like this all of the time. They would resell them as spares for boat trailers since they where the right size had the same bolt pattern.

 

So, the windshield had about four cracks running from top to bottom, side to side, etc.

So, I ordered a new one from one of those "come-out-to-where-you-are-and-install-it" guys.

Turns out it had a green tint to it, and after looking at it set in the car for a bit we decided it was best to go with the original style clear glass.

That’s when things started to snowball.

Our shop foreman said: "when I did my Mustang, they tucked the headliner in behind the windshield..."

So, my father-in-law says: "well, we should probly do that."

Which in turn led to the "we need to paint it first, before the interior goes in" conversation.

Needless to say, looks like it's now on the fast track.

We have had a few different guys come and give us quotes on the paint and body in the last couple of days. One guy who came today said if we can get it to him Monday he can squeeze it in before a couple other cars he's going to have to start on in a couple weeks.

Bueno.

Here's how it sits right now:

 

sound just like my 7 projects started. one lasted 5 yrs when it just came in for oil change before it came out of the shop.. rest are 2 to 4 yrs still in working on in the corner of the shop..

 

Much better to fix that frame and paint it. You'll never have a better chance to the the dash either.

One more snowball on the pile.

Really though, when the windshields leak inside, the whole dash and carpet/floor really get hurt (rust, shorts, bad grounds, etc.)

 

Well Fellas, it's now past the point of no return.

Had one of the guys who quoted us the paint and body come in about 2k below everyone else. We checked out his shop and a couple of his cars on Friday. They look awesome. We decided to go with him.

A couple of my Buddies came down to the shop Yesterday afternoon (Sun) and helped me strip most of the chrome, the bumpers and what-not.

 

Can't wait to see it, ort!!

You left that side molding on? That has to be worth a fortune.

Are you putting in those chrome/stainless bed rails or a liner in the back?

Yes, we left the side molding on. I have pulled trim like that before, and am not good at it. I didn't want to ruin it, so I left it for them to pull.

We are going to have the bed lined. My father-in-law wants to do it in white, I think it'd look good in black. So we have to figer that out. But yes, we are going to put the chrome trim back on the bed.

I stopped by last night to check on their progress. They weren't messing around. They got right after it.
