Just put a Pertronix ignitor in my distributor...and I must say they make it real easy to do...I'm not the most mechanical guy in the world either ...It went in rather easy...had to get the flame thrower coil to go with it.... the directions where easy to follow and understand...might want to check that out if you looking to go that way...
ive got a pertronix unit in my 65 ford 390. say you do leave it at the same oem timing settings right? im pretty sure, but its been ages since i last messed with H2O cooled engines.
runs good ..just need to fine tune the timing...no timing light ..so ill just do it be ear and then drive it...

It works great,When I fired it the first time, the timing had to be adjusted, because of a really poor idle,If I remember the timing was retarded abit.Works great and It was easy to install. Moparwagon

Timing remains the same, but you need the fully 12V in stead of the 9V (resistance wire in my case) for points
hmmm i wonder if the guys changed that over in my wagon, or if it even applies to my ford???? where would i ck it? red wire at the points replacement module?
Check voltage on the (flamethrower) coil. Should be 12(+)V with ignition 'on' (Measuring 12V with ignition 'off' is not OK!)
yup...they are the Cats PJ's..I have them in..3 of mine... I think one of the cars has been using them for about 3 years+...no probs
