electronic ignition

    Just put a Pertronix ignitor in my distributor...and I must say they make it real easy to do...I'm not the most mechanical guy in the world either ...It went in rather easy...had to get the flame thrower coil to go with it.... the directions where easy to follow and understand...might want to check that out if you looking to go that way...

    ive got a pertronix unit in my 65 ford 390. say you do leave it at the same oem timing settings right? im pretty sure, but its been ages since i last messed with H2O cooled engines.

    There was nothing stating differently in the instructions..plan on leaving it the same ...

    i kniw yore not asking me, but mine runs great. i wish i had the OG vacumm advance though...

    runs good ..just need to fine tune the timing...no timing light ..so ill just do it be ear and then drive it...

    My Pertronix flamethrower died twice... so converted back to good old original GM HEI

    I wonder why?...usually the only thing that will kill them is a "power coil":49:

It works great,When I fired it the first time,the timing had to be adjusted,because of a really poor idle,If I remember the timing was retarded abit.Works great and It was easy to install.

    I replaced the points in my 383 with a Pertronix Ignitor II. It works great,When I fired it the first time,the timing had to be adjusted,because of a really poor idle,If I remember the timing was retarded abit.Works great and It was easy to install.

    Timing remains the same, but you need the fully 12V in stead of the 9V (resistance wire in my case) for points

    hmmm i wonder if the guys changed that over in my wagon, or if it even applies to my ford???? where would i ck it? red wire at the points replacement module?

    Check voltage on the (flamethrower) coil. Should be 12(+)V with ignition 'on' (Measuring 12V with ignition 'off' is not OK!)

    yup...they are the Cats PJ's..I have them in..3 of mine... I think;)
    one of the cars has been using them for about 3 years+...no probs:whew:
