I know somebody who's getting itchy gas pedal toes. :rofl2:

I've been cleaning and painting brackets and shifter parts for 3 days, and I'm getting itchy already. I can imagine how you feel. :biglaugh:

I'm anxious to hear how you like the carpet & headliner from that company, gpd.

Ya know Norm, I am getting itchy, but now that Summer is right around the corner the funds are going toward vacations and other things. I figure by next Summer I'll be driving her around town or so I hope.

 Luckily or unluckily, I still have some cleaning and painting to do on the front end. The core support and front bumper arms need some painting so I can re-install the base Torino front end pieces that were recently painted. I must say these pieces came out really nice too.

GPD, it looks like you are not forgetting any details; it's going to be beautiful when you get it all done. The only problem is how in the world are you going to get a McAnary Ford sticker to put on the back? Are they still an open and operating dealership. Even if they are, I doubt their decals are the same as back in '73. Do you remember what it looked like?

gpd, I know how you feel. I've got almost all the parts and fasteners cleaned and painted, and 3 or 4 days before the rain starts. I really want to drive her again.

Ok as far as the carpet goes it is made by ACC and looks very durable. The price was not bad at all. Most dealers were wanting up to over $200, but I found this one at a reasonable $119. Also I didnt have to do much trimming. I really like the color too. As soon as I get the rest of my seatbelts installed I'll be able to re-install the plastic panels and figure out how much trimming I'll have to do there.

The Dealership nameplate is missing, but I don't remember our original wagon having one. But after a lil re-search on one of "Norm's Links" I found a photo of the McAnary Ford Emblem. I have started my 3rd album of restoration photos and on album 2 I have a photo of that emblem.

I must say this has been a fun ride. :1st: Thanks for all the encouragement and I'll keep the photos coming.

Neat job on both the belts and living launch carpet! :biglaugh:

Remember when kids used to put peanut butter sandwiches in the VCR and you had to ask your 11-year-old how to use the Record features on it? Well these photo-sites are the same way, only now, its the wives that are tech-savvy!

    Man! Is that clean!

One of my only complaints with the Fairmont is that there's no bumper rail (like those parking trims on doors) for the side panels. They always get knicked! I'm thinking I might do just that with mine, especially since the wheel wells are right into the car.

The other thing I thought about is getting some roofrack rails (sliders on the roof?) and rivet them to the carpet, to make it easier to side stuff in.

    Yours is definitely pristine!

Again, GPD....a beautiful job. My problem with the carpetless Ford cargo area is that it gets scratched up when used. I would definitely carpet the area. If you want to show it as original at car shows...do what the previous owner of my wagon did. He had a carpet made to go OVER my already carpeted cargo area. He had it made out of original carpet but, somehow, it is adhered to a black rubber mat. The edges are finished too. I just lay it in there and it looks great but can just pull it out when I want.

Thanks Guys! I think yall are right, I just ordered 2 yards of carpet to finish the cargo area and also I need some pieces to finish the passenger side front floor board and around the back seat. The molded carpet wasn't long enough to finish the back seat fold down area where the seat belts attach. Next is the headliner. It hasn't arrived yet, but I'm chomping at the bit to get it installed as well. Can't wait to get the interior done.
