Bought an Airstream yesterday

Well, I have always been one to put the cart before the horse, and I've done it again! I just bought an Airstream trailer!

I have loved them since I was a small kid...I don't really know why I've always been attracted to them, but I think they are really beautiful.

The whole reason I got a wagon, is because I wanted a good tow vehicle for an Airstream, and I kinda went nuts with the project.

I broke every rule in the book on buying an Airstream...the prudent buyer always looks at many, and takes his time deciding on the best one.
He checks it out top to bottom, making sure all systems are working properly, and that the floor, frame and axles are up to snuff.

But me? I saw it, wanted it, and bought it. Didn't really check out anything except what I could see.

Time will tell if I bought a beauty , or a pig in a poke!

No pics yet......didn't even have my camera with me, and I won't pick it up for a while.
But, I will get some pics soon.

By the way, it is a 1976 25' Trade Wind Land Yacht. I love it!

I've got one more for you!

Remember the old GE twin-head polishers? They were around back in the fifties. That gorgwous $600 Cyclo polisher is built on that patent. I was given one of the GE polishers with waxing and buffing bonnets, and noted that the discs are made of... plywood. The clips are removeable! Most second hand shops and Sally Ann Thrift stores have them every so often. Piece of cake to make a fixed handle and add a variable speed switch. They weigh about the same as the Cyclo:

The discs are easy to mod for different pads, with or without velcro.

Yeah, it kinda gives you the 'Boarding house reach' on the trailer walls. You'll have 6-pack abs in about 1/2 a wall!

 

Congrats David.... Due to the fact we have very strict rules here on hitches my Wagon isn't allowed to have any trailer. It is mentioned on our Titles how much weight a hitch may have... When the Wagon was imported I couldn't show our DMV the factory papers on how much weight the Buick hitch could have (it has a factory installed Class III, but that is not a standard they approve). So I ended up with a wagon not allowed to trailer anything.

What came with my Wagon were a pair of original (GM) fender mirrors cause the former owner did had an Airstream as well:

By the way:
In the Netherlands electric brakes are not allowed,
so those Airstream trailers have their axles removed after importing them and "EU approved" axles are fitted

I came by your house the day before, to ask if you wanted to come along to that Airstream show.
But your little missus told you that you had to stay in and paint the hallway........
(Man, what a bad life you have....!!!)

 

... that is the same missus that won't allow me to sell one of the Buicks

as you can see in the photos there wasn't much going on there... so the hallway was finished that same day

I alwayz thought that's what the flip down seats were designed for. Some ah us riff-raffs us 'um for more then haulin' dawgs 'n plywood yeah know
