With the early arrival of spring here this year some of us up here get to have a head start on our projects. So have you been doing stuff to your car? I've been trying to remove the front control arms off my parts car, since they have brand new bushings and ball joints. But what a pain in the butt job. Fun with compressed springs and rusty bolts! I've only just gotten one side off, and had to take the spindle and control arm together, just could not get them apart. But I've been searching the net tonight and have a couple more ideas to try tomorrow. Pesky ball joints! And I read over on another forum about drgrcr's 8.8 axle swap into his Fairmont, so I bet we're not the only ones putzing about! :floor_jack:
Nah. Since I no longer have a garage space to work in, I'm still in "off-season" mode. My driveway is basically two mud ruts filled with water. The rain keeps a' fallin' fallin' fallin'.
Gee Andy, I've got nothing planned that I will actually do myself. Of course there's the cleanup in preparation for the Fabulous Fords Forever show later in the month. Oh, I do have to get my free power steering pump for the Ranger which requires the removal of the old first. Only 5 years in to a lifetime warrentee and the bugger is whining and growling.
Sounds like a Ford pump. Try some Valvoline synthetic power steering fluid on your next flush. You do flush it, right?
I'm finally going to install the map pockets, dome lamp and refinished armrests that TBird sent me, then I'll do the Mustang fold-down seat seat backs, and rear hatchback cover, over the cargo area. I already swapped the Cruise control out for the original signal switch. The big job later this spring will be to refinish the new tailgate door and replace my distorted one. Still have some woodgrain left from the roll I got from JC Whitney. The rust paint needs 10 hours between coats, but our nights dip down below freezing.
I'm not working on my car. It's at the shop finally being painted. I did all the prep and was just block sanding for a month? Be plenty to do when I pick her up, like putting a model together after you paint it. I have the instructions but have to stick to the stock, those custom and modified ones are tempting. I hate when I get big glue fingerprints on the windshield.
Hey Andy, did you see this neat brake bleeder tip? I went to the link, and they make them for ours! I wonder if they're sold in Canada... http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/sb_speedbleeder.htm The vendor's site is a 'secure' site so don't freak at the warning certificate message. httpS:// etc. https://www.speedbleeder.com/
Today I R & R'd the roof rack on my Colony Park. There was a leak, so I cleaned everything and used clear silicone sealer at every screw hole during reassembly. The rainy season is almost here. Yesterday I put front brake pads in the PT Cruiser, then detailed it. (OK, I know its not a wagon. Technically its a truck.)
I got the 8.8" in, and it works great. That 2.3L likes the 3.27 gear!! I just picked up a 1983 Merc. Capri T-Top RS yesterday. I'm scamming the 5.0L and 5-speed out of it to drop in the wagon. The motor was rebuilt a few years ago. This car has everything I need for the swap (complete running car). Psst- Don't tell the guys over at the Mustang/Capri forum. They have a cow every time someone cuts up a Fox.
It's spring in Victoria Andy....way to frigen cold, windy and rainy to do anything car except fill the tank and check the oil level
My engine is out and the new engine build is almost complete. Still need parts for other areas of the car.
Dang, Fox! You sure don't waste any time! :You_Rock_Emoticon: Glad you are moving along so swiftly with your SS! David
