Of course, we don't really KNOW anything about that wagon. We love wagons but not all can be saved. The guy told 72King that he THINKS it has bad rings. For all we know....it has a rod through the side of the engine. Besides the seat problem, it does show a significant split in the dash if my eyes don't deceive me. And it appears to be sitting among other cars that may be condemned to the the crusher. Never know until you do an up close and personal on a car.

i was making a suggestion to others..lol i already discussed it with my wife (aka swmbo) and it was met with.....you want a divorce?

ohhh but i would if i could!

yeah but fox, remember that a canvas in which to paint a beautiful painting on must first be clean! meaning...."hey that car doesnt have terminal cancer!"... dasboards can be fixed, the engines are out there. im betting that car could be show quality for less than 5k inc. new engine and paint.

I really don't think the crusher is going to pay that kind of money. If it did, the junk yards would be empty. Probably more like $300 tops. Rent a trailer and go grab that one. No need to pay a transport company more than you pay for the car.

people are using "scrappers" as a empty threat now a days...call a scrap yard and ask them how much you'd get for a car that weighs ????...then call him back and tell him you'll give a lil more tha 'scrap' for it.....should be about 300 outa your pocket !!(y)

dats what im talkin bout Willis:rofl:
you can always get a new wife....its a woodie !!:rofl::D

I understand that very few scrap yards are paying much for anything with all the cars they got under the stimulus program. I doubt all those cars that came in to the dealers and then manadatory wrecking have cleared out so someone dropping one off is going to get small change.

If you really think it is worth the money and want it what is six hours each way plus a couple throwing it on a trailer.............:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

Tell the wife you want to go for a drive and buy her dinner out of town.

When she sees what you bought she'll think you are an :162: and who knows, things might be quite nice around the house for a while - nicer than usual:clap:

I watched from what I thought was a long distance a car disappear from the adverts only to see it in town not long after. Some one else took a couple of hours extra on the weekend and did the drive, bought it and nursed it home. Then I had to pay him $700 more for it. That one still haunts me.

Oh man! Tony, that wagon has so much life left in it!
It is sooo loaded! Cruise, power everything, intermittent wipers, FM stereo...looks like the only options it doesn't have are power antenna, and minivents(might only be '74 and later).
Tony, go get that Ford! :taz:

So true. Another thing it has that you can barely see are the cornering lights option. If this were my car, the only thing I would change are the seats. Strange as it may seem, I was never a fan of the high-back seats and perfer the low-back seats with adjustable headrests. These high-back were optional even with the Brougham interior option I think. Swapping out should not be hard to do, because I think even the LTD sedan had the same seats. I do know that the LTD Brougham sedan had these high-back seats as standard, but they were a more luxurious cloth.

Check out the date written on the fan shroud. That engine compartment looks so complete, if it was slightly cleaned, it would look almost as good as that '78 going for the big bucks...the air cleaner assembly looks better.

The driver's window is either broken out, or down and not working.

And Tony, go get that wagon, but leave those high-back seats alone!:p

Yep, I noticed that date on the fan shroud as well! :) Also notice what looks like new plug wires and distributor cap.

Yes, the driver window is broken. He said "someone" broke it with pliers trying to get it up. Probably him. ;)

I found someone that will transport it here for $300 (but not sure how reputable they are). He said he would take $850. So... that would be $1150 total - then however much to fix the engine and then redo the woodgrain and paint. Wonder if I could maybe find another later not needing this for not much more? My main objective is to find it a good home and out of the crusher.

I did notice one other thing. In the ad, he did mention the seat had a blemish (as seen), but said the dash didnt have any cracks, but as someone else mentioned it does appear to have a crack in the dash. Perhaps an oversight from the seller. I am leary of buying from Craigslist from someone I dont know, which is why I would like to go there to get it personally, but no trailer/no time/no trailer.... and it would drain my savings account and all of this is coming after I sold my daily driver and giving my other car to my mom and in the process of possibly buying a 1993 Lincoln Town Car on Tuesday.

I did figure and its only 320 miles away. The timing of this is not good. :slap:

Such a shame, she sure is pretty and looks solid. If only that money tree I planed last summer didn't get killed from all the snow we have gotten.
