I've been working on the l6 conv. while the vista is in the body shop and started cleaning the wiring harness connectors. Is there a simple way to clean these connectors without taking them completely apart? Any suggestions ? Tony
Soak them in mineral spirits, not lacquer or acetone. If they're corroded inside, after getting the grease and grime off, soak them in warm water and baking soda to get the greenish blue stuff off and then vinegar to clean the residue off. If you add a teaspoon of salt to the vinegar, that'll help get any rust stains off. Finally rinse in clean water. Take note of the connectors that had a grease or lubricant, usually door switches and ignition wiring (coil to distributor) and use some mineral oil or lubriplate to recoat them (either one is non-conductive). That'll take care of them for another 20 years.
