Wagons in vintage Street scenes

I like these pics, Doghead, Particularly #'s 32739 (lady in orange and pink), and 32742, with the ad for the '63 Pontiac Tempest station wagon. The stores shown in 32739 look vaguely familiar to me. Did you get any location on that one?

 

Unfortunately, not. If the image wasn't so blurred, the license plates would at least be giving a clue

I did a little digging, and confirmed my guess that the Tempest wagon pic was from either a magazine ad or a brochure. The brochure was the correct answer - Page 13 of the 1963 Pontiac Tempest brochure, to be exact.

And I've figured out why that little town area in # 32737 looked familiar. I've been there! It's Blue Jay, California, a very small community located about 2 miles from Lake Arrowhead in Southern California. Our family spent a few years vacationing at lake Arrowhead in the 60's, and Blue Jay was where we drove to to stock up on food and supplies. They had a great bakery, too. Looking at the original photo, you'll notice a 'Jensen's (liquor store?). Jensen's is now a full-fledged supermarket. And it's in a rather large shopping center that sprung up recently, not while we visited.....

 

The surroundings look it. If California license plates, those pictured seem to resemble pre-1970 issues?:
