I went with the OEM grade, because when I do replace the carpet, I'll get it made with a better grade Underlay soundmat. I still found it expensive at $36 for 6 pcs 12" X 12" pieces (6 sq. ft.) Mine isn't a big as yours, but I think it totalled about 4 packs.

What I did do is used spray undercoat in the doors (everything was out) after cleaning them up and priming them, and that cuts a lot of noise out too.

Thanks Guys! I'm excited to get her home and dressed in her jewelry. Most of the stainless trim came out looking pretty good after I gave it a once over. Next is the drive train. My painter knows a FORD guy who is gonna attempt to get her going for me so I can get her in and out of the garage without the City coming down on me again. :naughty: If that doesn't work then I am gonna just haul her over to the engine shop and get that going. It's only money right??? :rofl2:

Thanks Classic. I am waiting for my painter to finish painting up the metal flooring /seat portions of the interior before I get her back home for re-assembly. I also have a lead on the base model Torino front fascia I have been looking for so hopefully that will work out as well. If so, I will have to send those pieces to him as well so they can be painted and then I could replace the Gran Torino front fascia.

Well the day has arrived. The wagon is back home and here she is nestled in the garage. She got in last weekend and after a thorough wash and wax I put her up on wheel dollies so I can work on getting her back together. I need to thoroughly clean the interior and start getting all those panels put back on along with a whole laundry list of things for the exterior. I have plenty to do thats for sure, but I'm just glad she is finally home.

Nice!!! It looks great in that color, too.
All the hard work is so worth it when it all comes together.

    Hey gdp,

Congratulations on getting your wonderful Torino home, and snug as a bug in your garage.

I am totally impressed with the job you are doing. I missed this thread until now, but I now I am hooked. Your attention to detail and thoroughness in everything you have done so far is fantastic.

Your paint is beautiful! I love blue, and that is a great shade.

    David :)
