My town fire department owns one of these, about identical I believe. They bought it back in the late 1800's and a few years back did a full restoration. I think they had around $200,000 wrapped up in it in the end. Very beautiful piece of equipment! It was told at the unveiling of the restoration that when they originally purchased it the fire department wanted assurance that it could reach the highest point of the tallest building in town. Which was the steeple of one of the churches in town. So they proceeded to test it by shooting a stream of water over the steeple, it passed this test and the fire department bought it. They proved it again at the unveiling by shooting a stream over the same steeple over 100 years later.
