1972 Chevrolet Chevelle | eBay I came across this car while doing a search for wagons (don't know why this popped up). A survivor! Same family from 1974 to 2023. I think it had a repaint, but who cares! Original engine. The only thing that turns me off is that this is definitely a trailer potato. If I bought this, I'd have to get a storage unit for it, it's too nice (a lot of car burglaries and thefts in my area). And the white interior.........I'd have to get into the car with driving slippers and white gloves.
Why's that? Are you some grease monkey turning wrenches at a transmission shop? Something looks out of place with its odometer. Is it possible that numbers line up like this, if it hasn't been tampered with?
I have a few ‘70’s cars with less than 50,000 so the mileage is believable, it’s the price that scares me, but if you only wanted one old car, and it had to be a Chevelle convertible, you couldn’t resurrect one from a bone yard for that so it will find a home I would guess. I have a ‘68 Impala convertible with a white interior, so you do need to show some care, but the vinyl cleans right up. I agree a garage is a must for this car, especially as it has a white top too. I would also be nervous every time I parked it somewhere. If that were a 454 ‘71 you’d probably pay twice that amount. When they rerated/detuned the horsepower after ‘71 the value takes a bit of a whack. The 350 is certainly plenty to propel it down the road but the premium on a 454 is outrageous.
Mercman, Paul agrees with you about white interiors. He told me that his Dad had a 1975 Cadillac Coupe de Ville back in the day in Mandarin Orange with a white interior. The interior needed regular maintenance to look pretty, but it was do-able. Your '68 Impala convertible sounds amazing, what color is the exterior? Would love to see a photo.
Well, the trunk has been painted incorrectly, its black, should be a splatter paint, the underchassis has been painted black, all the nuts, bolts are all black. I'd pass.
White interiors are sort of like some people who still look elegant, despite what they might be wearing. Even shabby white interiors still look enticing, like this recently spotted specimen
