It was great fun and neighbors today were commenting on how neat it was to see so many parents dressed up as well, and so many little kids. What was nice was there was not one candy wrapper or garbage left anywhere and only one tiny glove someone lost. Otherwise there was no trace, unlike prior years when we had to do some clean up.

It’s good to hear good Halloween stories.
We don’t get trick or treaters here. We still have a smaller home nearby that we have leased out. It’s in a subdivision like that.
Everyone in their driveways with fire pits and pot luck dinners.
We still go hang out once in a while with them and our old neighbors

Our neighborhood used to get swarmed by trick-or-treaters. Now there aren't hardly any at all. I think the Trunk-or-Treat activities have really decreased the volume of traditional trick-or-treating in our area.

around 10-11 pm the freeloaders would swarm in by the minivan loads. By that time we’d be out of candy but well lubed.
That’s when we went digging in the cat boxes and rock gardens.

These reckless parents will get fed the pay-back, as soon as they start dealing with an overweight kid suffering diabetes

That sounds like a great Halloween. Similar to ours actually including the giant dino suit. This year we took a suggestion from my sister and handed out small toys from the $ store so there was no quality control going on over here. ;) Being our first Halloween here, we weren't sure how many kids to expect. We too ran out about 7:45 after treating about 70 kids.
I like the idea about having the kids sing for their treat, hope I remember that next year.
We also had well mannered kids in great customs with a lot of parents also dressed for the occasion.

    It was a great evening.

Totally looking forward to the Christmas season.

I'm glad to hear your first halloween in your new home was so positive, Jennifer. It's a fun way to sort of get introduced to a lot of the neighborhood when they see you participating in an event that's so much fun for everyone. The similarities between the east and west coasts are neat given we're about 5,800 kms (3,600 mi) apart - one big country. We are also anticipating Christmas again. During the pandemic many in here put up tons of Christmas lights and put them on late November to cheer people up and that's continued although the start date will be Dec 01 this year. I dug my outside lights out yesterday, repaired several strings, I might have to pick up a few more sets when Canadian Tire has their sale next week. I'll start putting them up this week. There's even a chance we might get a bit of snow in December which would be cool in both the that's sure pretty and the darn that's cold.

THAT should've been the Granada, not the in-house sedans and coupes, and it could've had that wagon, predating the Fairmont's medium wagon by a few years. What year's this fine example?

My neighbor hauled "Cousin Eddie's Camper" out yesterday to start setting it up. Evidently he couldn't get it running this year and something was locked up. He had to drop the driveshaft, hook a chain to it, and drag it into position with his fire truck. Kinda like watching the Keystone Cops for an hour as his kids ran back and forth fetching various wrenches, pry bars, and hammers.
