The heat is making car work almost impossible right now; I just about have to be up before dawn, be dressed and ready to start work, and knock off a couple hours before midday. In between, I have to go inside, sit in the A/C with a fan on me to drop my heat load down. And the constant change from one extreme to the other is wearing me out.

My doctor yesterday was very clear that this heat and my overheating, cooling down, then overheating again is very hard on the body and in particular the heart. He said he would be very disappointed in me if I became a "statistic".

I’m restoring a patio, stone walls and foundation. We’re in the high 90’s with about the same humidity every day. Then we get the storms that come thru but that’s our typical summer season… E052D68F-A0A4-43B9-9F25-3EA01E3B8714.jpeg CD5475E8-3A30-4EFE-B7E8-F839A7B84E91.jpeg F5E0C6B3-F949-4D67-867E-3E7AC8BAE67B.jpeg F3D83E7B-DF31-46E5-92F5-66F5C5F06F53.jpeg 1FF0615A-251B-4C07-8DDD-5DEB497E3DF0.jpeg 311F739A-9263-403C-A59C-0A0849921477.jpeg 016E799C-9FF0-4545-9C88-35E1C9049004.jpeg Concert goers had a surprise on Friday night. 3C16C547-356E-4664-87F3-FA5BE07FDBF3.jpeg (stock photo. nobody we know…)

Wow Jack Wagon! That is some wall you have there. Curious, is the square window for the cannon?

This is for a client. I’ve worked on this house off and on doing projects for over 10 years now.
Yes the turret was for protecting the grounds and keeping out the revenuers. It was once owned by a local mobster named Red Smith.
There are gun slots built into the walls at various points and a lookout on top of the turret.

Those clay pipes are the drains. The gun slots are steel pipe and box channel built into the stonework

You are correct! How can you pay taxes on something that isn’t legal business?
I heard that you could get a beer here when you couldn’t get one elsewhere but you had to know somebody…
