Update. I took care of the thermostat housing leak. Seems good so far. I think the oil leak may be coming from the intake manifold. I've tried everything with the distributor and it's still leaking on the header. I also have another gauge cluster to go in. It seems like the temp sending unit is bad. The gauge only comes on when it wants. More work.

I put the other gauge cluster in this morning. Now I have a fuel gauge again. Next is the water temp sending unit. I had a couple of old spares lying around.

Since I have aftermarket Bosch gauges for water temp and oil pressure, I had to by the proper Bosch sending units. Stock units are not calibrated for the Bosch gauges. Now the gauges work like they are supposed to.

Intake gaskets are redone and PCV valve and breather cap installed. So far no more oil leaking on the headers. Now a call to the local old timer who is a carb guru to fine tune it. He took care of my wife's 67 Fury wagon last year and it's been running great ever since. Hopefully I will have the same luck with my 65.

Issues issues issues. Now installing a fuel pressure regulator and gauge. Apparently the Edelbrock carbs don't like more than 5 1/2 - 6 lbs of fuel pressure. I also bought a nice new distributor. I'm trying to get this thing purring like a kitten.

What kind of distributor did you go with?

That's always frustrating. I fought fuel issues with my F-100 for the better part of a year. Definitely frustrating.

Summit makes a good one. Better than stock with better bearings.

So far so good. Took a road trip on a hot muggy New England day. 1 1/2 hours each way. I took a chance but I have AAA Gold. No issues.

It went better. Still little bugs here and there. I'm going to try a better fuel pump next. I notice that sometimes the fuel pressure is down and the clear fuel filter is low. It's a stock pump that's a few years old. I'm going to try a good Edelbrock mechanical pump.

It's been a while. Been using my wagon all summer. Took care of the fuel issue with a new fuel pump and added a pressure regulator. Now I had to replace the water pump. It's less than a year old. New parts aren't what they used to be.

It's a big hit at the car cruises and local shows.
