The Fury has been great. We took it to Laconia NH (not bike week) for a weekend getaway. A lot of smiles per gallon. It handles the trip well. It did get a little hot in traffic so I bought a shroud. We'll see how that is. Laconia 23 trip.jpg

Check your ignition, especially if it's points. If it is, when the points wear, it lowers the dwell, and causes timing to retard. That, in turn, can cause a hot-run condition.

Took my high school driver's training course in a '67 Fury III 4-door hardtop. 4-5 hormonal - sweaty teenagers and a sweaty gym coach. At least we could drive down to the beach where the ocean breeze would dilute the 'atmosphere' in the car......

That's good. So the next thing that can retard the ignition timing would be a loose distributor or a jumped timing chain. Even one tooth retard can cause elevated coolant temps.
