I honestly I wish I still had Dad's 2-door sedan. Instead of the Ranchero, I would've put the Grand Marq 351W drivetrain in the Fairmont.

I had a customer back in the early 2000s that had a '54 SD, he dropped a 351C/FMX in it, and had big trouble attempting to tune the carb. Well, like my '74 Chero with the same drivetrain, the carb spacer plate gaskets top and bottom were shot. Once those gaskets were replaced, it dialed in and ran soooo much better, so he had us do a full tune-up and a timing set on it. And like my 351C, all the nylon on the cam gear had worn down and was breaking off. But for an SD with a 2-barrel and dual exhaust from factory manifolds, man, it sure has get up and go!

I can certainly relate to that. There have far too many "free looks" over the years that cost me a lot of $ and time and blood sweat and, well , you know the rest. But, I can't help myself, I keep looking. :watching:

Working in the Airstream today I found this. We'd been gifted it a few years back from someone who thought our wagon was a Buick but darned if I can remember who it was. We had it hanging on one wall for a long time and then put it away at some point. It's back on the wall again in the trailer.

Oh, for Pete's sake! Can someone point me to the thread with the Oregon B-17 bomber gas station? I have a couple items to post about it.

upload_2023-4-15_6-27-10.png Houlton Army Air Base was established in 1941 because of its proximity to Canada. Prior to the United States entry into the war, the United States "lent" military equipment to Great Britain to enable it to continue the war against Nazi Germany. Planes were flown to Houlton Army Air Base but U.S. military pilots could not fly the planes directly into Canada, a British ally, because that would violate the official U.S. position of neutrality in the war between Great Britain and Germany. In this picture, Arnold Peabody, a Houlton Maine area farmer is towing an SBC-3 Helldiver across the border to Canada.
