And we’re back. There was some car shuffling at my house and I ended up with a couple of Lexuses, Lexi, Lexus’? Anyway, got another car that cut in line and now I’m back to the Falcon. Since the last post I’ve also replaced the rear left and from right cabin floor. Currently in the process of the front left. Since these are smaller mostly flat pieces I was able to use the bead roller again. Remember to look under the floor before you cut, folks. I need a new brake hardline now.
Time for my six month check in . An hour here and a hour there and I’m finally done welding in floor patches! Drivers front, passenger front, rear passenger left and right, cargo area, and spare tire well in the rear right are all new metal. I already have seam sealer that I bought a while ago (you know, because this was supposed to be a two week job LOL) so I should have everything covered/coated and ready for carpet shortly. Going to coat the entire floor in primer or rust encapsulator and lay down some sound deadener too. Now if I had left everything else alone I could at least cruise it around locally, but of course I got bored and have engine pieces laying around everywhere. To be continued.
Don't feel bad. My Ranchero is my current daily, as the CP has a technical problem I need to deep-dive into with the ignition, and currently, the Chero's cluster is out and the dash wiring is getting a go-through to figure out why the cluster illumination is not completely working, and wiring up the Clarion stereo so I hopefully have tuneage again.
Seam sealer is on, top and bottom. The floor is officially done! Trying to make it as professional as possible without ever having done anything like this before. Considering I’ve seen road signs covering rust holes with screws I guess this isn’t too bad.
Looks very well done! Are you going to put sound deadening on the floors also? I put the peel and stick rolls of deadening in my 65 vista when I replaced my carpet. It went in nice and I was definitely happy with the overall results.
Indeed I am. The floors at the very least, possibly the doors and the roof as well. Already have the first box of 35 sq ft sitting in the garage.
