I would generally agree, but there was a pretty terrible 1986 reunion movie "Return to Mayberry" in which Andy drives (gasp) an Impala.
Was it terrible? I have never seen it. My Boys and I enjoy the original series, especially the first five years with Barney and Gomer. We have talked about trying to find the reunion movie and watch it, just haven't been successful yet.
Yes. Granted I last saw it probably 30 years ago but it did not leave me wanting more. It had almost none of the good humor of the original series, plenty of "serious" looks from Opie and Andy and all that, and honestly it was kind of jarring how they sourced a California town to double for North Carolina (which is obviously nothing like it). It was like the folks who made it wanted to capture the spirit of the original series but missed what made it funny and special, ending up with something you can definitely tell was inspired by the best episodes of the series, but were closer in reality to the later episodes of the original series after Don Knotts left that just weren't that great. Like they took leftover scripts from the latter era and combined them into a single movie that had pacing issues and was mostly a snoozefest.
It's all this "good." Return To Mayberry Opening and SCene. Andy Griffith & Don Knotts Barney Fife - YouTube
It really took off at the end. With 23 watching I figured it would go high, but 11,200 is good money for these. But I can tell you as a panther body lover you would be hard pressed to find a nicer riding comparable car.
Yeah, I'm pleasantly surprised, and glad to be wrong. The seller got $3K more than I thought they would.
