Just watched a bunch of video of what's happening in the Atlantic Provinces. So much damage, it's amazing and downright scary how intense these storms are getting. We've got everyone back there in our prayers. Hope all is well with you and your family and friends, Jennifer.

Was this caused by the same storm? This storm actually hit us from the north, if you can believe that...a storm from the south. It brought cooler temperatures for us a snow in Labrador.

We came through this horrific storm very well compared to so many. A 60' tree came down in our back yard and missed everything. A section of our fence, between us and our neighbours came down, hubby has fixed it already. In our area, we lost power for about 48 hours. It all seems so minor compared to what others have and are still going through.
Three people were swept out to sea from the storm surge. One man has disappeared, and they suspect he was swept away. Two women were in their homes when the surge swept the houses away. One of the women was rescued by neighbours, but the other was not so fortunate. So many homes and business have been ruined. It will take some time for all the trees and wires to be cleaned up. Workers from all over eastern Canada and New England are working overtime to get us back to right.
In the middle of the storm Saturday evening, our cell phones lite up with an Amber Alert, a 4-year-old boy had wondered off and became lost. RCMP, Search & Rescue and volunteers from around area looked all night. They found the little guy the next morning 2km from home. He was alive and as well as possible for having spent 12 hours in the wet, cold night. In all of the aftermath this little boy has become a bright story...well him and the woman who found her fridge after her house was
destroyed. When she was able to uncover it, her beer was still in there...an incredible day/weekend.

Weather watchers have their eyes on Ian. Looks like this one will miss us. SW Florida probably not.
    Take care.

So glad to hear you are almost unscathed through this Fannie. So many others lost so much, it's so sad to read and see the pictures and knowing the suffering this has caused them. Thanks for the update, we were wondering and hoping for a good outcome for you and you got it.

And I gotta say, that antenna was well-mounted. Usually you see a bunch of those take flight in a big weather calamity.

Before and after pictures of our son's year after the hurricane took down 7-8 large trees. Then after we spend the day tiding up. Still more to do but we were beat.
Amazingly a baby Red Maple managed to duck the larger trees. For the most part it's still standing. You can see the sawdust where they cut the other trees.

Ha, the upside is that you now have more room in the yard! Gonna set up a horseshoes pit? Outdoor fireplace/chargrilling pit?

The yard was actually this big before the trees fell on it. We worked over two days opening it up again.
