I know, but it still seems funny. Kind of like a line from O Brother where art thou?

Went to our car show yesterday. Pictures are posted here.

The servos in my camera finally took a dump, but I was able to access the SD card to retrieve my pics. Don't know if the rain got to it or just age.

Some great pictures you got from under your umbrella. Not a bad turn out with all the rain.

    Well, here we go again.

Alerts: Stewiacke, Nova Scotia: Nova Scotia - The Weather Network

We have been busy preparing for hurricane Fiona to arrive. For days all media outlets have been warning folks what to do and not do over this weekend. For most of us who have been through hurricane Juan, white Juan and Doran we have a good idea as to what to do. But there is always room to learn from other people experiences.
I work with two ladies who have never experienced this type of storm before. They seemed really shocked as to what people were going through the cash with. A few of us old pros were trying to enforce some other things that are not mentioned on most storm info sites. For example:
    - get cash, don't rely on plastic. but also acquire small bills $5 or $10. If everyone is using $20 or higher, small bills become scarce quickly. We have discovered this firsthand.
-fill your car/truck. With power outages there are no gas pumps.
-have prepared food that doesn't require cooking, ready to eat in the fridge.
    - the usual filling a few buckets for flushing is common but also keeping a large jug of ice in the freeze. This helps to keep the freeze colder longer but can also be consumed as it melts.
-during this storm the temperature is supposed to drop to 9c, so it is important to warm up the house while electricity is still available.
    - outside, if it's not rooted in the ground put it away. Flying flowerpots can brake widows.
-keep an eye on your pets. go out with them. Creaking trees, falling limbs, unusual sounds can scare them into running off.

I think we are as ready as can be. Not sure when I will be able to check in again if the power goes out. After the last hurricane we were without power for almost a week.

Take care Sleprock (Mike) looks like you folks are in the path as well.

Don't forget your trusty, cast iron Dutch oven. You can prepare/cook anything in it that you can cook on a stove or in an oven. Works with wood, charcoal, buffalo chips, or Coleman fuel and/or propane. I wouldn't be without one. It's been a basic survival tool for several hundred years.

Our prayers are with you Jennifer. We are watching Tropical Storm Ian down here. Details differ but the level of apprehension is probably the same. Hope we will both be able to post to the forum next Saturday.
