Yes it is electric. I think the overhead lines came down sometime in the late 80's, early 90's IIRC.
There are a few spots left around the city that still have overhead lines, for historical purposes and a few have power to them.
But for the most part it just runs off of the generator in tow.

Marshall, since you grew up in SoCal, that streetcar would be akin to a Red or Yellow line Pacific Electric car running around L.A. Only, it would be a lot larger news.

My 'memory' of the red and yellow streetcars that L.A. had really is only from the pictures I've seen. There wasn't a line running close to our house, so I didn't have the streetcars in every-day view, and I've got no memory at all of being on one. I'm sure around the age of 3 or 4 ('55 or '56) I probably DID see a streetcar a time or two, but it' just didn't register. They were beginning to disappear around that time, as well......

That makes sense, as that was when the Southern Pacific (the parent of the PE) began dismantling the system, and the Federal Aid Highway Act was passed by President Eisenhower. Some of the rights-of-way were surrendered by the Espee for interstate construction.

By the end of March, 1963, General Motors, (Bus), Firestone, Standard Oil of California, as well as Philips were successful in driving the last stake in the street car system in southern California. Took 90 years but in their minds good things come to those that wait. Sad. Kinda came around for GM in the 1970’s when the Japanese cars were eating their lunch.

So many other things that your boys could have asked to do on their last weekend of the summer, but spending it with you and the wagon taking in the sights was what they wanted. You two are doing a great job with those boys, they have their priorities right.
As also nice pictures of the wagon and the boys.
Happy school year guys, have fun.

We have actually been experiencing an autumn here in Central Washington this year. The fall colors have been quite beautiful. I have driven the fury to work the past few Fridays and taken a few gratuitous "parking lot with a tree in the background" photos.

Nice! I’ve been driving mine to work a little too. It’s so nice today and going to be turning cooler tomorrow. I’m thinking about going home at lunch and getting her

You don't have any snow? A guy I went to high school with, he lives up in Chelan, and they're getting well-snowed-on.

We had one flurry, but it all melted within an hour or so.
