Took the Subaru wagon to Kentucky bought a dodge wagon met a man with a priceless horse
I am truly Blessed.

 

That Dodge looks like a sweetheart. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

And that priceless horse looks amazing from what I can see.

 

I found a pair of wagons at the junkyard, got parts for mine and for a member of it, an '88 looking a bit worse for wear. The other is a '70s Ford full-size wagon, but I had so much to do Saturday (till I fell, cutting my time short) I didn't look at it. I'm hoping it's a '73/'74 Galaxie front end, as it doesn't have the wood sides (Country Sedan).

 

The Horse is prob in the top 5 in the world. 40,010 miles original tires, hood stripe delete Brittany Blue, white interior. Much Much More! The next one he’s thinking about is a 65 production model of what Ford would have sent to Carrol Shelby…

changed shifters again, still not happy lol

 

I guess I got lucky. I put an Indy shifter in and it works great. It’s a Hurst 3spd. with a short stick. You have to lean down into it a little but you look cool when you do.

 

After 4 years and a not so small fortune i finally gave up on my modified stock suspension and replaced it with a Heidts unit modified to fit the Chrysler (surprise they don’t make an off the shelf one for 1953 Chryslers. Should have done this at the onset but was to hard headed to do it.
The wagon now handles great, drives like a new car, corners like a roller skate and sits in the dirt (one of my must haves)
Although the old suspension was 100% rebuilt with a disc brake conversion, it was never pleasant to drive, now its a winner

 

I don't remember. Did I ever tell the story of my 1st time installing a floor shifter in my 51 Ford?

 

Afraid to ask but it needs to be told…

 

I was in high school and had a 51 Ford as my 1st car. As I started my automotive journey, I knew it had to have a floor shifter. I bought a Mystery Shifter from the local custom shop. It came with no directions. 2 rods and 2 flanges........how hard could it be. Only 8 combinations. I crawled under the car and finally after juggling everything around, they all cleared. Now to try it out. Reverse wasn't where it was supposed to be. Finally found it, upper right. As I searched more I came up with this shift pattern.

Drove with it like that for a while until I could get back under the car and tried again. I finally got it right.

 

great story. and thats, how we learned.

 

Had some rust bubbling below the rear quarter window and was going to wait until this winter to repair it, but when I found water in the well when I was checking the rear washer level I knew the time was now.

It's bad, there is also another smaller area towards the front of the window opening. I'll make five separate weld in patches to repair it and hopefully I'll just need to paint the top of the fender & lip.



Cut out and replaced a small section of the inner lip.


A small piece at the top of the fender to cut out and weld a patch in then I'll start on the two patches on the forward part of the window frame, a job for tomorrow.

 

Got the rest done today.



Didn't take any shots of the amount of welding and work with a die grinder to fill & shape the rear inner & outer corner.

Finished off today with a couple coats of primer. I'll start blocking it out after work tomorrow and hope to have some colour on it for the weekend.
