Quote with the original photo reads:
A Richfield and Chevron station in Los Angeles, CA, next to ongoing construction for I-5.

    (From above...)
For me, this was the 'new' Los Angeles International Airport. Of course, it's been extensively modified and remodeled, putting a second elevated roadway right above the one seen here. effectively making an 'arrival' level and a 'departure' level. This view is basically looking east. Notice the landing jet in the distance. He's pretty close to the east end of the airport property, on Aviation Bl.

Here's the OLD LAX terminal that I remember, where I forst got to tour a new United Airlines DC-8. (Didn't get to fly in it though......)
Looks more like a bus terminal, doesn't it. This terminal was in use through about 1961, IIRC. LAX terminal 1950s.jpg

That design was just about what every airport had until the explosion of jet travel. It's funny, I looked at the Eastern view pic and was reminded of the episode of ADAM-12, where Malloy and Reed were pulling temp duty at LAX...on scooters, no less! But all the shots looked exactly like that photo.

See the USA in your Chevrolet - (need some years on you to get the reference).

Bull. I know Dinah Shore used to belt that out around ten years before I was born!

    *ahem* Make that twelve years:

And I just learned, she was born in 1916! So this was when she was 37, and her TV show was when she was in her late Fifties/early Sixties! I thought she was 20 years younger!
