So, what was the difference in this and a Mark from that year?

For starters the marks had “gills” right?

You couldn't get a 460 in a car in 1981 despite the ad's claim. It's probably the 5.0. Also interesting to see they were using a serpentine belt setup in 1981. The ad also claims a cassette player and the radio is AM\FM stereo only (which is unusual to see).

If you have one you want to restore, these pictures are very thorough on lots of details that are well preserved.

The Mark VI still had hideaways in addition to the air extractors in the fenders. They also came with the all digital dash and computer too.

A beauty, love the simple lines and minimum details (no gills) of this car. Would liked to have seen some interior photos.

There isn't a pic of the stereo, but if it was the older high-end design, the tape drive access was behind the analog radio band display; however, I think it would've been the newer digital display with the separate tape drive slot, and a silver face.

Note the different rear styling as well. Upright on the Town Car/Coupe; slanted on the Mark. This generation had a 4-door 'Mark' as well......

There's a link for the full size photos in the ad. There's 85 large ones there, lots of close ups of the interior and exterior.

The radio is definitely not a cassette deck, it's just a solid plate where the port would be.

    The 8th VIN digit's an 'F,' which is a 5.0L.

The Ebay links now list the engine as a 5.0 Liter 2bbl. But I agree I don't think it has a tape player

Agreed. Nice scripting detail where the tape would go
