    Happy Anniversary !
    to me,
When I bought the stores in 2013 there were 1245 Sears Hometown stores - after I closed in 2018 there were still 900
as of today there are 314. most are Midwest and west - very few left on East Coast- 53 Georgia and Carolinas are half of the 53
    MY Locations:
Harpers Ferry WV - still vacant
Harrisonburg, VA - vacant - rumor is that the building owner is going to knock it down - they would not have renewed my
    lease
Staunton VA - half of the space still vacant other half an Enterprise Car Retail Office

2 years ago I closed the stores and this thread is still around.
    unbelievable!

thanks for asking, last October I took a hourly receiving position ( after 47 years I got to punch a clock!) at Lowes, January they told me that position was being eliminated within 4 months - my options were to work on the floor - told them no, not interested, my patience and filters for rude and obnoxious customers is gone, by late March the social distancing on part of the customers was NON existent - so I gave my notice, I'm not getting sick for a job. Lowes was terrific, treated me with respect co worker's and management. Glad I did it - it got working out of my system - have NO desire to go back - now fully retired.
so now what - still looking for another wagon ( wife has to approve this time - this might not ever happen) riding my bike (Bicycle) and trying to get my golf handicap down from 14 - my wife and I are kind of keeping to ourselves, limiting contact with friends that we know are doing the same. 1 of the people that bid on my car, regrets not buying it - and asks my advice on other cars - and I send him ones I've looked at. that's my life right now.
still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up.

    Still want a boat though,

Well, with the date that’s either 1964 or 1970. My guess is ‘70 since the phone number is numbers. I would think in ‘64 they would still have been using an exchange prefix. I would guess. Unless that color photo is that store, and there are ‘64’s in that lot, as the newest cars visible.

I have some friends in retail, and to your point they too are quite concerned with the current environment, as they are in Arizona, and Chicago. Our governor here is going to re-shut hair salons and barbers. I think coming out of Covid our complete system of retail is going to be turned on its head. I think that any weak sisters that haven’t gone out by now will find it hard to compete with the ever expanding online alternatives, and yet support a brick and mortar operation at 25% capacity rules. Same unfortunately with restaurants. Also it has to be difficult to stock, open, shut, reopen, and disinfect your store/restaurant as you go along.
