good guess, a little trimming and they fit

 

I am not sure.The car is pretty much just maintained and I don't want to overshadow the car

 

I also did a new ac condenser and radiator

 

I sold the '73 for a package deal that included the engine and AC compressor going into my '68 and a manual transmission conversion to the car.

 

The following machine supposedly's delivered with connecting adaptors for every vehicle ever manufactured. The breadstick and waterpot is used to demonstrate, on an elementary level, the effects of the fluid's molecular breakdown as well as deposit contamination. For transmissions of which aren't built with drainplugs for the converter, a flush is advised:

 

A lot of manufacturers (Honda being one that springs to mind) actually recommend against transmission flushes. If the transmission has an easily accessible drain plug then I usually drain the fluid and replace the filter (if it is serviceable) and then do 2-3 more drain and refills (after driving between) to get most of the fluid exchanged. If the transmission doesn't have a drain plug I'll do the same, but disconnect one of the cooler lines and use the trans pump to pump the fluid out.

 

NEW SEAT COVERS REMOVAL

Well I pulled the trigger and spent my covid-19 check on a new set of front seat covers and a complete carpet set. I got the old ones off, stuffed them into a large box and sent them to SMS in Oregon! ($80 from western Ny.) They received them last Thursday.? Now the waiting game begins! Took some pictures of the removal.....Longroofs Rule!

 

Well, if you really did pull the trigger, then where are you writing from? Do they have internet in Heaven, Purgatory and Hell already?

 

He's in New York. So he shipped them around 3K miles for a redo. What are they charging you for the job?

Let me rephrase: how much money are they charging you for doing new seat covers?

 

The grand total is $1435 for the seat covers (plus $80)......Longroofs Rule!

As much as people scream about that pricing, a bench seat of a car that isn't regularly stocked that requires hand disassembly and re-assembly with all new quality materials is about the going rate. The material alone for a seat like this is almost $500-600. SMS is pretty much the only game in town and they do good work (even if it takes a LONG time in some cases).

 

I agree elB, I figured if I paid all that money for high quality materials I may as well have competent craftsmen do the assembly. I talked to a couple of upholstery guys in my area and they didn't sound confident in doing a OEM job. Thus my decision to send them across the country to SMS.....Longroofs Rule!
