I don't know what it is about German styling but almost all of their cars make me want to look the other way, Opel is the exception I can think of right now. Same thing with the French cars but British and Italian higher end cars make me want to look at them and drink in the styling.
Being GM-owned, Opel designers enjoyed less freedom than the other German manufacturers. I enjoyed my Opel GT partly because it wasn't spartan in styling. German Fords were one of the first World Cars, being that certain components were shared between all markets, not forgetting that the Pintos and Mustang IIs came standard with Capri engines. Opels were also, to a tiny extent, because the Opel Diplomat was offered with a Chevy Smallblock https://www.autobild.de/klassik/bilder/opel-diplomat-b-1296967.html#bild1 I don't mind these. Everything earlier and later than this series turns me off, though
