Ever seen this done?. At night they have a flame contest. The winner last year had a truck with stacks maybe 10 ft tall. Cut up to look like tiki masks. This guy was just cruising along. Don't get too close!
Let's talk about flame throwers and old looking car haulers. Some of this is repeated from other posts but I only lived once. Way back in 1978 I bought a 1977 Dodge 440 powered class A motorhome. After we retired to Florida in 1994 the old motorhome was parked between a greenhouse and a pole building at the side yard. Forlorn but never forgotten. My dream was to remove the motorhome from the chassis and use an old cabover truck restored as my car haulin vehicle. It would have a sleeper cab with tiny kitchen and potty behind the cab. Like the photo of the red ramp truck, I wuz gonna make a slanted flat bed to carry a car to the car shows. This was also about the time I wuz gonna buy another Honda or Harley road bike or even a trike. Even though I was retired I never seemed to have enough time for car and bike shows, RV camping, going to the beach, roaming around the woods, hills, and dales, working on my other car projects, mowing, trimming, etc. to follow all my dreams. Way back in 1989 our first grandson was born and we took temporary custody. Steven grew up a car guy, unlike our own three kids who did normal kid things. After 1 1/2 years temporary custody turned into adoption. Steven was enjoying helping me play with cars and going to cruise ins and car events. But he was skeered to death when there were flame throwing contests. We got to see Buicks and '59 Chevys melt expensive tail lites and all sorts of oversized exhaust set ups that looked like real flame throwers. Yet little Steven would run and hide. Fast forward to the larger car shows in Florida. Steven bought an electronic flame kit for our 1941 Ford. Thank goodness he sold it for a profit before installing it. Flame throwing contests got so wild that the Daytona Speedway safety committee banned those games. Altho I've seen many cars shooting flames from the 70's on, I can't remember ever seeing anyone with the old time flame throwers back when they were first done. Things in the midwest were always behind those West coast hot rodders.
Oh wow, what a great thread. There’s some model T gold on heredigging the curves on that seat. Shovel head might be my favorite Harley motors. Such a negative message on that air cleaner though. How about one that says peace or love or fried chicken?!?
The boat looks pretty dangerous! I think I read somewhere that Mickey Thompson crushed several vertebrae racing boats
Water turns into a concrete wall without a thought of announcing itself. Several racers have died over the decades, others badly injured. Chip Hanauer has a problem with his voicebox that's attributed to a crash in his career.
Not only has this guy his feet on the bellhousing, the family jewels are also within range of any flying shrapnel
