that's one thing I love about the fox bodies... I cut my teeth on the mustangs, and when I realized the fairmonts were fox bodies, that was all I wanted :)

they're deceptively light... even though they're small, your brain doesn't allow you to accept the fact that a fully dressed station wagon could weigh 2700-2800lbs. Look at a malibu wagon from the same era. not much larger, but a solid 500-600lbs heavier easily

HandyAndy and I went to a local yard and found a 1983 Sedan baby-LTD's factory sheet - 4,300 lbs.! Had the V6, IIRC. Couldn't believe it. I think the light wagons are from 1978 to 1981. After that, they start gaining weight (computer, controls, sound proofing, etc.). But the parts fit just fine, thank you very much.

I'm pretty sure that 4300 was GVW, not curb weight

a lincoln Mark VII is about the heaviest fox body you'll find... the CARPET weighs 100lbs... 11" disk brakes all around, tons of luxury crap, etc. and they're in the 3800-3900 range
