Now only if Maytag could get a waterjacket around that cylinder and head, Mrs Dinglebury could then do the laundry with hot water.
Pretty sweet truck! Looks like the rotunda of a state capital building in the background, through the trees.
If it's a Chevy, it's a "Cameo Carrier," which was named by the design engineer, who served in the Air Force, and named the smooth-sided trucks after "weapons/ammo carriers."
That’s Grand Kremlin palace. Used through 1949, now used as the “Presidents” home. Don’t know what year the GAZ pickup is. Sure couldn’t have been a lot of those.
I'm not a 50's chivy truck connoisseur, but I'd say from what I can see of the chrome, just past the headlight, my money is on it being a GMC. like this:
Looks like the only difference between the two Chebbies is the chrome trim. Otherwise, they look just about the same
I was looking at that Andrew. It's got me a bit puzzled. I'm not as fluent in 58 chivy as I am in 55-57, but I know that there were four trim levels: Delray, Biscayne, Bel Air and Impala (the last being the one-year-only super up-scale option for the Bel Air) The two in the photo above appear to be the base model Delrays. The side trim is the same, but the car in the back has the chrome shark gills behind the headlight, chrome rocker trim and chrome on the "C" pillar. None of which appear to have been available on the Delray/Biscayne, but were standard on the Bel Air. So my guess is, someone went down to the parts counter at their local Chevrolet dealership and ordered themselves some extra glitz.
