Is the large "A" structure acting like a leaf spring?

 

It can't be, since the lever sticking out of that cast unit is effecting vehicle height. I think, the upside down V structure is simply a demonstrative brace. The actual suspension unit would have been fixed onto the frame.
Here we go:

 

First, the demonstration car had two extra units mounted on those A-structures and coupled to the car's own suspension, for visible demonstration purposes only. The springs that support the car weight is inside the large tilted cylinder.

 

The Citroen 2CV was using spring cartridges that were mounted onto the frame

 

Those were actually used more for cars that had sun visors that could potentially block overhead viewing of traffic lights.

 

Many people thought David Jansen died of a heart attack at 50, in 1980. In actuality when Frank Sinatra saw this picture of a young David with his foot on Franks exhaust outlet of his new T-Bird, Frank had him “hit”. Even though the photo was new to Frank, and this infraction was some 25 years in the past, and this car had been totaled in 1957, when Frank tried to run down Desi Arnez in Palm Srings after a drunken brawl where, Desi called Ava Gardner a red headed cow. Fortunately Desi jumped into a ditch, and Frank took out Bing Crosby’s brick mailbox. Frank held a grudge. Especially when he also remembered that this same “kid” had said hello to Mia Farrow at a restaurant where she and Frank were dining. The saddest part of this whole soarded mess is that this wasn’t even Sinatra’s car. Jansen had the identical car, without fender skirts. An underworld associate close to Sinatra even after pointing out the conflicting photo to Frank was told. “The fix is in. Butt out, or you’re next! You couldn’t tell Frank anything.” said the associate, who coincidentally was found shot to death, 18 months later in the drivers seat of a 1982 Frank Sinatra edition Imperial. The glacier blue Imperial also had “FAS” smeared in the victims blood on the drivers vanity mirror. Total coincidence? I think not.

 

Bing in self contemplation asks in thought . “I wonder if that would leave any marks if I whacked Gary with it? Bing, the happy prankster was always on the hunt for unique objects to torture the boys with.

 

This happened, after hefty rainfall. And you could imagine what immigration agents were preparing, when cops delivered him to them
