This is reason enough, for calling for a vintage hotels thread

I paid $125 for my '56 Nomad in 1972. That same car today just as it was back then would probably bring about $30,000.

We sure were lucky back then. What kind of car can a teen age kid buy today, work on at home, and have a real “cool” sense of satisfaction to what he’s/she’s done to their ride.

They were great days. Most kids today don't even know what they missed.

My first car was a ‘56 Fairlane, but I sure would have loved to have found a matching 2 door Park Lane wagon to go with it.

We were Chevy guys, but there was also a few Fords in the mix. One friend had a '61 2-Door Wagon, 6-Cylinder 3-Speed on the column. We all found it to be a pretty cool car.

Yeah Craigslist and the Smart phones have taken half the fun out of life. Our cars/kids cars alway seemed to come from a friend or relative. I kept the Fairlane, but replaced it as a daily driver with my uncle Al’s ‘68 LeSabre. Black over the Buick version of ash gold. I loved that car too. $125.00. I’m sure I got the nephew discount. It was only 10 when I bought it.

I wanted a car when I was 12, but had to wait till I was 15. Bought a '58 Nomad, 348, 3-Speed for $50. Paid for it with paper route money (I made about $8 a week).
